What does this bulb do?

I have noticed that no switch seems to turn these bulbs on (circled in red)

Does anybody know what they do? Perhaps they are both blown?

Weird that if they are not working you don't have a bulb out light on the dash :?

Changed mine to LED's recently. Look spot on with the xenons
Pretty bright on there own aswel once the sun drops a little

I just bought a bag full of the LED's for the interior lights and then modified 2 of them to use as sidelights :D 10 of them for £8 quid. bargain

Yep - changed all my interior lights (except the cubby and glove box...) and side lights to LEDs. Love it. I also have my Intravee set to make the sidelights come on as DRLs 8)

i changed the cubby. not sure why as i dont use it  haha but didnt bother with glovebox, does it light up?

showing off with your intravee :(

Thanks guys. I had a few LED bulbs left over, so tried replacing the sidelight bulbs with those. They work, but the dash warning is still there, and also when the sidelights are on one of the orange lights doesn't come on!? I think they're just cheap nasty LEDs to be honest so have ordered a couple of standard sidelight bulbs. The weird thing is that both orange lights are fine, they flash when I lock the car, but one of them refuses to come on while the LED sidelights are on! Weird.

lol why's it such a stupid question? There must be some reason why an LED 5w bulb is causing one of the indicators not to work properly. I assume it's because the LED bulbs are crap/dodgy, but thought others may have experienced similar as 'modding' these seems to be quite popular.

only glanced over the thread so haven't properly read it but
they were £20 for 6 I think :fuelfire:

the bulbs need to be inserted in the correct way if I remember right.
have you tried fitting the bulb with it turned over?

No worries Mike, I imagine they were sold as interior lights so I was just trying my luck with the headlights :) They light up fine, but still throw the error and also weirdly stop one of the indicators from working. Just going to replace them with standard ones.

strange.. i though if the sidelight goes out the indicators stay lit all the time?

If changing to LED's you need canbus ones to stop the bulb out warning.

Yes exactly, that's what should happen. With LEDs in there sidelights, only one of them comes on! But both light up when the car is locked
