What does a guy move onto after a Z4?

As those of you who read my past threads will know, my Z4 Coupé was a total lemon and was returned to the dealer. They gave me a full refund and so I had a cheque burning a hole in my pocket, plus I still needed a decent car. Common sense dictates steering away (excuse the pun) from a BMW but how does a guy replace a Z4?

So, I tried the MX-5. A really fun little car, but a bit cheap and not enough balls.

Then came a Mercedes SLK. Fine if you like really bad design, and w-a-y too of much a girl's car. I'm gay but not *that* gay.

But in the end, I found a perfect replacement for the Z4 3.0si Coupé.

It's a Z4 3.0si Coupé. Common sense be damned! I bought another one! I must need my head looking at. Are there any psychiatrists here?

It's probably not that bad a decision at all. You clearly went through the process to get one in the first place and can't find anything that is an attractive altenative. One bad example does not make the entire BMW range poor, you got a full refund on the 'lemon' so go with it.

Have you got it yet and if so let's see a picture?

Hi!

Yeah, you are right about the selection process: what else is there that is as good? Porsches? Pff! Like hell! :-)

Nope, not got it yet: only ordered it yesterday. But in view of my past difficulties, the nice people at BMW have guaranteed that it'll be with me super-fast, probably 2 - 3 weeks.

Like CJ said, one lemon doesn't represent all BMW's, but it sure can sour you on them if you've wasted a lot of time or the dealership has given you a headache about it. Sounds like good dealership practices may have had a good bit to do with your deciding to go with another Z. Post pics of course as soon as you get your grubby little hands on them :P

If I were to get something to replace my Zed now, without exception it would be another Zed. But having said that, if it were my only car, I would not. At my age at least, I would never consider the Zed as my everyday car or family car. Hardly with only two seats. It is not that comfortable for me and my wife.

I drive like a maniac in it and if I don’t kill us both or worse someone else it will be a wonder. It is just so much fun getting into curves at 90 MPH and feeling well under control. Try that with my Mercedes and I would be in some field now as fertilizer for the flowers over my dead old bones. :oldman:

When my wife and I drive someplace and I hit just a little bump in the road and she is trying to put her lipstick on using that damn, in her words, “little useless merrier”, and smears it on her face, she gives me that look that I know means, well this is a family forum so maybe I had better not say what that means. I do have the sports package and I understand it rides a little harder than the standard, but still not what I would call a smooth ride. But damn it is fun. :driving: :)

This is a family forum??....I should've been banned months ago!

I couldn't have the Z as an only vehicle either but for different reasons. If forced to choose one, it would have to be my truck.

My first Z4M (Roaster) was a lemon. My Coupe is not. Lightning usually does not strike at the same place twice.

The original dealer was, frankly, useless... so took my business to a different company who were only too willing to try improve my perception of BMW's service.

Second time around, I also knew which options to go for an which to forget... oh, and PDC is now available front an rear, which it wasn't when I ordered Zed No 1. Have gone for the standard metallic black and dumped the less than superb satnav, too.

wish i had this option, trashed the front bumper on a flower pot tonight!

good choice to stick with the Zed, you liked the car enough to place an order in teh first palce, you'd regret not following through at actualy getting one

Good choice! I think that most people here can honestly say they have been pleased with the reliability of their Z4s. I know I can. In 2 years and 25,000 miles, my only service issue was an adjustment to require less pressure on the pedal before the brake lights come on.

Personally, I'm offended that any of you would considering getting rid of your Z4s! SHAME ON ALL OF YOU! This thread should read.."what does a guy buy in addition to his Z4?" :-)

For me, mines a keeper...particularly considering the lackluster appearance of the 2010 model. But I will purchase another sports car after this one and just add on another spot in my garage. It'll likely be a coupe. I'm really starting to take a liking to the Porsche coupes. A classic vette may be another car to add to my garage at some point.

Of course, they won't sell me a vette now. The dealer said I had to much hair on my head to own one :P

I was going to answer that the car you move onto after a Z4 is another Z4. But ya got one, so I reckon I don't need to tell ya.

I like your "in addition to your Z4" and "add on to my garage". It's like you buy a great car, then add it to your garage when you buy your next great car!

When I leased my 2oo5 Z4, it was finally the color and options I always wanted. Then I bought it near the end of the lease, CPOed it, bought a set of Michelin PS2s and want to keep it forever! My "toy". Now for some serious mods!
If I get another car, while keeping my Z4, it would be a BMW 650 :roundel:.We have a Ford F150 Super Crew, that my wife drives, for when we need a "towne car" for more people or big stuff.

If I had a "Stable" of cars, I would also have a Lotus Esprit TT, 65 to 69 Corvette, Austin Healy 3000 MarkIII, MGA, 69 to 71 Dodge Challenger, 69 Mustang Mach I, and other players to be named later - :D

If you build it (Garage) they will come !

Dream it, get it, live it!
