What do you think of your 20i's

There was about a £9k dealer contribution to git rid of the pre-facelift models on the website and it was across the board

I wonder where that sort of discount comes from? :?
I didnt think there was that sort of markup in cars these days but I'm sure the inkey fingers have done their sums. :D

If the 2.0l is only marginally more economical than the bigger engines then what's the attraction ? Is it the company car tax band implication or maybe the Co2 output?

Company car tax rate + the fact the rate is then applied using the new list price as a factor + my work need any vehicle to be under 160 k/gm (and that reduces to 140 k/gm from April 2013 apparently!!) for corporation tax relief reasons.

Just came into this late but had by 28i now for a month although not used at it's best because of all the snow. First impressions are that it is an improvement on my old 2.5i. The performance is better and it even sounds as good although I suspect the 3 ltr v6 still has the edge in that department. The tax is £170 which is £80 cheaper for a more powerful car which doesn't make sense but not complaining. One issue though is the fuel consumption figures quoted.Drove back from Heathrow to the North East all motorway and taking it fairly easy due to the weather andstill only managed 38mpg which is short of the 40 quoted. On average getting around 35 / 36 which is better than the 2.5i but less than stated in the blurb. Even using the auto stop start at lights. Is it just me? Another question is how much extra fuel does driving in sports mode consume? Not that there has been much opportunity to do that either recently.

I got my 28 about a month ago and all,the models where being heavily discounted on the BMW website (to get rid offer facelift stock), in addition there was a lot of pre registered about , mine had done 6 miles and had been reduce by 16k (£44 list price , picked up for £28k)

You are wrong, the discount (at that level) was only on the 2.0.

Wow! I bet that gladdens the hearts of existing E89 owners!

Seems like a great price if had most of the toys incl Nav. Did you P/X your Boxster or was that a "cash" price?

It was a pt exchange price - the car has most of the toys, sat nav, heated seats , extended phone etc. Couldn't work out why it was so cheap, I half thought it might have been nicked :D

Looking on the used BMW site when I got it was very strange , there where loads of delivery mileage cars with good specs for less than 1 year old models with 5-10k on the clock.

Thanks saw the spec on another of your posts. Mine is similar but I could not get them down anywhere close to £28K once I took P/X of my 330Ci off the table. Once work have paid for it (well, most of it) hopefully tomorrow I will post more info in the Newbies section.

I read this thread with interest as I was debating a 20i under my budget or a 28i above it. I concluded that I might miss the 330i performance if I went for the 20i and so went for the 28i in the end.

You won't regret the choice. The 28i also sounds better especially in sport mode. ENJOY!
