Im looking to buy my first Z4 and have found one online but as I live in Northern Ireland and the car is in London so Ive only the pictures and the sellers word to go on before I book a flight hotel and ferry home :cry:
To my eyes it looks a good buy but what do you all think?
Any advice please and does anyone know the car or anyone else viewed it?

It looks interesting to me - it's not a facelift though (as it says on the advert) and has 17in square (all same width and profile) wheels which might mean it's an SE and not a Sport (if there was such a difference in 2004?) Looks like it has angel eyes which is a popular upgrade. There are also 2 levels of bhp with the 2.5 litre so it would help to know which this has. Can't tell much else without more interior shots.

Maybe someone in London can take a look for you and save a wasted journey or confirm it's worth a look?
 
I did notice the darker wing and also the fact its not a facelift for the simple reason that the rear lights are wrong and I always wonder why people don't take photographs to show the drivers seat bolster when its the part we all need to see most.
I suppose with only 60,000 miles on the clock that set off alarm bells with me Cat C Cat D possibly or just off the road for a while for "repairs" but who can tell and im 350 miles away and its just too much of a risk without knowing more.
 
If I was looking for a Zed around the £4k budget, I would be looking at Nova2k7's car currently for sale.

It looks to have excellent paintwork, tasteful mods and he's openly. listed the 2 possible issues that may need attention. A car from a forum enthusiast is likely to be a better buy than a wild Autotrader/Ebay gamble.

There's better cars for a bit more cash , that has had some fettling on the front end for sure
Wheels are 16inch & worth their weight in Frosties so factor in £500 to change up as you'l get pretty much scrap value back for them
Advert also skates over number of owners , service record etc
Good paint colour but AVOID
 
Move away from it immediately. My son looked at this for his girlfriend. This car was in Slough. Everything about it dodgy. Dodgy meeting place, car was a mess. Guy gave him an address but wasn't there but turned up whilst they were waiting outside. Claimed he'd gone for fuel yet it was empty. Doubt he lived there. That waiting for log book crap as well so can't verify the address.? He saw it 3 weeks ago. He since sold his girlfriend his car and they already got the updated log book back. We checked that private plate on dvla 3 weeks ago and it had been moved off the car so a new log book was at least in the post back then. They didn't bother with a test drive. :thumbsdown:

Also been looking for whats on sale here but I really didn't want a black car but I do like the look of Nova2k7's car :driving:
 
My son just updated me. He said marks on every panel. Engine smoking. Said it was the worst z4 he had ever seen and we saw some shite when we were looking for his so that must be really shite. I hate piss taking sellers like this.
 
Walk away, although it sounds like you are already. Some really poor cars about and also some good ones for just a little more money.

I tend to not look at the cheapest cars these days as I have wasted so much time and money chasing a bargain. Better to go with a solid, honest seller and get a straight car.

That car if straight should be around £10k , WBAC would probably offer £7500/£8k so why would they accept £5200 for it ?
Zero prior ebay sales ? AVOID

No offence to anyone on here, but my rule of thumb is if someone is selling a car on Gumtree 9 times out of 10 is crap. If they can't be bothered to pay to have it put on eBay or auto trader or even free into car and classic then to me there is usually something pretty dodgy with it.

The adverts and pictures never quite stack up.

I'm sure there are genuine sellers with genuine reasons for only using Gumtree but they are in a minority.

Saying that, paying to advertise is not guarantee it's not shocker too. Just I have a bit more confidence.
 
Only had my 2005 2.5 with 55000 miles for a month now. Paid £6400 for it with a few upgraded features like 18inch wheels. I think this was a fair price for a wll cared for car so anything less must come with a big question mark.
