i think your interior is spot on as it is but i prefer the wood..of the 2 you have shown...i think black may clash with the body colour imo

also to add by removing the ali youll leave the door handles, knob and steering wheel covers looking a little lost? :?

I like the mahogany.

My car has light poplar wood dash and trim, the gear shifter has some aluminum trim with black leather and the "hockey stick" door handles are aluminum so that shouldn't clash that much since you're replacing the trim around the shifter.

Light poplar

IMO I think the light poplar would look best - based on your interior. You have the beige interior as I do, and the light poplar looks awesome. I can post a pic tomorrow, if you want to see it with the beige combo. P.S. I love the color of your car (exterior). :)

I'm sure all the advice from Europe will be to leave 'as is' because of the 'in ya face' possible clash of mirror black against the light interior and blue exterior.

Generally wood in the UK belongs on old Jaguars, Bentley, etc. but seems much more popular in the US.

IMHO leave it alone and think of another mod.

I have always liked what I thought to be light poplar (it's much lighter than the picture smokin posted) on cars with beige leather.

Really like the Piano black which i would do if a i had a Black Z4 with the cream interior but with your car i would go down the same road as MdV. http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=6092 and get the parts sprayed in the bodywork colour that would look very different and that colour against cream leather would look great

Regardless of colour I'd always spec the mirror black. I really like it. A colleague with an X5 told me to do it, and I don't disagree with him.

A bit fingerprinty in these pics, but easily cleaned with a dry microfibre cloth.

Carl - I think it looks fantastic on the combination in your photo. Of course all these choices are individual, but IMHO some combinations work well and others not.

Are you running for a political office per chance? :poke: :poke:

IMHO, what would look great is a poplar or mahogany grain, with a ashen grey-stained finish. 8) That would add the depth and character of wood grain, but retain a certain contemporary edge that suits the Z4.

That said, I'd though of replacing my dark poplar with piano black... but my coupe is Jet Black, so it would have a more "retro" matching body/interior match feel. BUT, one thing that looks odd about the black is that it calls so much attention to the radio unit.

That's my 2-cents (and that's all it's worth).

Cheers.
