my March 2007 coupe 3.0si sport?

30K miles, black, black leather, heated seats, bluetooth phone prep, xenons, parking sensors auto this that and the other (is that the comfort pack?). It's immaculate, the drivers seat side bolster had some signs of wear but thats been sorted. The original wheels have only covered 6K miles so over half the tread left and are unmarked - I swapped them out for CSL reps and then for CH's/

This is at the supplying dealer against a 3 series coupe. Glasses guide is saying £19K trade for immacualte, £18k for average.

Whats your bets? £15K, £16K, £17K

It worked out that I was offered around £19,500 on mine which is a September '07 build with 6,800 miles.

£19,700's not bad for yours, what sort of discount did the offer on the M coupe? Or was that against sticker price?

No discount on the M as it was already at £26,899 for a late, fully loaded '07 with only 305 miles on it and they new they could sell it for that (which they did in just 3 days!)!

keep it 6-12 months and ease off the milage and let others catch it up... youll loose less on it.

Getting a little bored of it to be honest, like the car but fancy a change... I've a set of figures in my mind if they don;t get close then I will keep it! Fortunately the Tax man's paid for the depreciation which eases the pain of the depreciation slightly. But I'm not will to give the car away...

The coupe's my daily driver and I commute to work, that mileage is already with me avoiding going to the office when ever possible. so unless I give up work there's not much chance of dropping the miles

We shall see what the dealer says and how desperate they are for a deal!

Taxman pays for 25% of depreciation with a limit of I think around 2.5K a year if I remember right. Think the Z depreciates a bit more then that ...

I happened to be at the local dealership last week and snapped this:

If <£20k (so £19k after discount) gets a 57 plate 3.0si SE with 12k mileage, it has to hold yours down in the £15k region given it's newer, lower mileage and the invariable BMW warranty, margin, added to the fact they probably don't want Zed's on the forecourt, etc. all the accessories are nice but I don't think dealers value them, aside Sat Nav and auto/manual and FSH

I have just been trying to sell mine, and dealers offered me around £17k at the most. Its pretty depressing after what i paid for it. Mine is 56 plate from sept 06 with less than 13,500 miles and the right spec, all the extra's etc.

I'm just glad i didn't buy it new!

If i lay quietly in bed at night, i can actually hear it dripping money!!!!

I think this has covered before, but we've had a variety of different configurations over decades. They always have the registration year built in somewhere since the early 60's. That used to be the last letter XYZ 123 A those ran out so we went to A 123 XYZ. 'XY' indicated the town of original registration and the 'A' the year. Because we are Brits we kept a few letters and missed some out too...so we never had I, Q, O or Z as they could be mixed with numerals

We had a big rush for new registrations on August 1st where some 30% of the years cars were registered so a new layout AB 01 XYZ running September to Feb and AB 51 XYZ March to August was introduced in 2001, with '1' being the year.

So a '57' would be a September 07 to Feb 08. Took us a while to get the hang of it..

Hey but guess what now we can have O and 0 to really confuse...

Well, I understand that the plate means when they're first registered. (Am I right?) I just don't understand why it's of any significance and why it's mentioned over and over. Shouldn't the "model year" of a car be more important?

Warranty is determined from the day of registration. Value of the car changes only twice a year as well, i.e. first part of the year plate versus the second part of the year. A car registered on a new plate is worth a lot more then a car registered the day before.
