So sitting at work yesterday enjoying the thought of going home on a friday......
at 3.20 email arrives from wife, "The main road at home has been closed...Something to do with a Gas leak or something"

Fair enough I think..Sure it will all be over with by the time I get home......
3.45 another email from Wife.. "People are being told to abandon their cars and just to walk home"

My reply was " I will NOT be abandoning my car..
4pm Mobile rings.. it's my neighbour phoning me as the police are escorting him out the street..."We are being evacuated it's probably going to be Saturday before we get back..."

Ok now I'm concerened ... Calls wife ..she tells me that My youngest daughter is at dance class and is then going home with a friend to stay,, eldest is at work and then going to B/F's to stay ( she might be 21 but still don't like hearing that) Wife is going for meal with colleagues and has been invited to stay at her best friends you (me) will need to fend for yourself.....

By this time it has made the scottish news Colleagues at work find this amusing (Twats)..

5pm work finishes made a couple of calls and 20 minutes later sitting in my mates house eating pizza and drinking beer and waiting to watchthe france uraguay match..
Multiple texts start to come in from friends who have seen it on the news asking if all ok.. One Mate was concerned if the Zed was ok

8 pm wifey texts safe to go home now they have apparently sealed the leak.. me by now had too many to drive tells her she will need to pick me up as i had settled in for the evening :)

Turned out that at a local council yard near me someone in a JCB had smashed a main gas pipe, apparently my neighbours could hear it hissing and it is a wee bit away, one of them told me there were ambulances and fire brigade and police everywhere, tv camras and press. When i got home there was no evidence anything had even happened Wee bit of exitment on a friday night

Yup. that sounds like something a local authority worker would do, although I'm not sure I believe you: they NEVER work that late on Fridays...

Lol, Yeah know what you mean, I'm guessing he was doing overtime, probably still claimed for it as well. Im sure some overpaid council health and safety bod will probably blame the gas pipe for being there. :headbang:
