What Do You Drink?

Ale usually - quite like trying any unfamiliar that's on tap. In terms of brand-name ales, I love Arcade Nation (Brewdog) at the moment. Nothing too grapefruity.

G&T to kick off an occasion (e.g. the fact that it's Tuesday). Definitely whiskey in the late evenings - addicted to Lagavulin, but I like most of the gnarly (Islay) ones. Then Balvenie or Yamazaki for something smoother. :)

I have two Juru's one at home and one at work, once you've had fresh brewed coffee (though not cafetière) and tried a few varieties of beans and blends there is really no going back, a bean to cup machine just makes life that little easier.

Favourite blends are Barista reserve and Golden creme, single origin beans are Monsoon Malabar, Kenya peaberry and Swiss water decaf in espresso.

That was my point, I used to have a separate grinder but was always faffing about grinding and cleaning, bean to cup makes life so much easier.

I tend to like my coffee dark and strong, I've used Whittards Santos and Java blend for a while now.

I like a decent real ale when I'm at the pub, wine and scotch when I'm at home. Been enjoying a bottle of 1978 Auchroisk single malt recently :)

Coffee and more coffee as I have a high end expresso machine and grinder... :coffee:
Wine every now and then... :drinkwine:
Also, iced tea, occasional vodka martini...
Never developed a taste for beer....

I tasted Martini once a few years back and in no way did I make a smooth james bond / Sean connery-esque look about me tasting it, more the look of did a bird just poop on my car

I don't drink during week unless on holiday but I do like a drink at weekends, mainly different bottled beers (not lager).
If in a pub I like to try different real ales.
I also like JD and coke, Vodka and coke, vodka and tonic water, Jim Beam red stag Black Cherry with ice, Jim Beam honey with ice, whisky and Stones ginger wine, Morgan Spice and coke, at the mo drinking Fireball and coke.

All on the same night I might add

     is what I'm doing right now.

I'm not a big drinker, honest.

I like big Italian reds (Barolo, Brunello di Montelcino), dessert wines (Muscat, Eiswein, Tokaji, Sauternes).

I also like my ales - British real ale. German wheat beers, etc.

Finally, I like the odd pint of G&T - drink everything from good old Gordon's, to Bombay, to Tanqueray and Hendricks. Some I will happily drink without tonic as an aperitif, but mostly drink it with tonic as a long drink.

Cut right down on everything since I was diagnosed Type 2 diabetic in November '15, so down to less than 2 glasses of wine a week, 3 beers a week, and 2 large G&Ts a week. This is down from 2 bottles of wine a week, 2 pints a night, and 1/2 bottle of gin a week.

Haven't taken it to the North Island - I'm a bit scared of the Interisland Ferry. Still tons of places to see in the South Island before I risk crossing the Strait....

I got a taste for my Belgian beers (Grimbergen, Kreik, Duvel, Orval, Westmalle, etc.) when I worked in Brussels for 2 years, then started on the German ones when I was working in Frankfurt, Hamburg & Munich. Even went to the Oktoberfest for a few years - it's too busy now - and full of Australians.

Don't know if you've seen this online beer shop or not, but it's what I use to try lots of different ones.

My staple diet is Gin/Vodka followed by a good chardonnay with to finish my favorite Grappa.

Weizen Bier,Red wine, German whites ie Grau burgunder / spätbegunder, single malts, gin and tonics. A fair range really to go at but all under a 15 unit limit - I'm another diabetic !

I'm probably in that diabetic zone somewhere too given the consumption of chocolate and champagne around Christmas festivities

- I'm still to indulge in "real" champagne directly from "Champagne - France"

Have you tried a German Sekt? - its not one of my regular tipples but the occasional bottle is nice and certainly equal to Champagne - to my simple palete!
