The e89 cup holder is only for left hand drive cars. No right hand version is available as it's bracket interferes with electrics inside the tunnel. I've seen someone retrofit but you have to cut holes in the console and do a bit of fiddling to get it to fit right.

Just not worth it.

the cup holders in my Boxster were a work of art, i never used them, just used to show them to people and say...look...thats a work of art...

my TR6 doesnt have any at all....still ive managed to keep that for 37 years and it hasnt ruined my driving enjoyment.......

ok guys just reading some post on here, came across a post asking about removing the dash trim,
it links to this post http://e89.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1148144
so my question now is in the bottom left picture in that post, what is that hole in the metal work of the dash for???
could i maybe squeeze a 3 series cup holder in there?
what exactly is behind that?
I know it would mean cutting a hole in the trim, but the cupholder would cover any hole and look almost like it ment to be

I bought this from Japan and it sits where the ashtray usually goes.
It is stabilised with sticky tape and velcro.
I believe they do a version for non smoking package cars also.

Isn't there 2 cup holders under the arm rest?

They annoy me as you then have to drive with the arm rest up!

I occasionally use my nespresso travel mug and it fits between the seat and door quite nicely.

Just a thought, but you could always upgrade to an E85 or E86 with cup-holders!

looking at that you must have a smart top getting to the buttons for the roof would be a nightmare....... having said that its a bloody good idea....um put my thinking hat back on'
Does it actually sit in the ashtray? if so do you need to remove the lid or just have it open?
Thanks

So it's actually not too bad getting to the buttons, but yes I do have a smart top module fitted.
It sits where ashtray used to be, so the lid needs to be open and ashtray removed.
Having said that, it isn't the most stable fitting.
It certainly needs the Velcro on both sides to keep everything in place without wobble.

I regularly found myself holding hot drinks between my legs at the drive through!.

Went to BMW and bought the £120 quid arm rest twin cup holder replacement, done.
Expensive cup holders but its what I wanted.

:-)
