What do I do!?

Brought my Z$ and speced it. 3.0Si with every extra and 108's (Three Sets) for £40K July 05. Today with 65000 miles no acidents, still with BMW Warrenty, full BMW Service, I would be lucky to get £10K If you can afford it good luck to you, but look at the sums. VAT is like £7K

Last December I bought a 04 plate 3.0 SE with 2,880 miles on the clock for I'm guessing at least 28K less than new. There are good cars out there, with the depreciation already factored in. I've seen one locally with only 8K on the clock priced at arround £12K.

Hmm, well I'm gonna call in at the garage after work and confirm the details, my impression is that there is no deposit with this deal. If I got more for my car than I owe on it then I'd be over the moon!

I really am torn as I really don't like spending stacks on depreciation, but my current Z4 has a few bits and bobs that want tidying up, the appeal of a brand new car, in perfect condition is very, very strong!

Well I called in at the garage last night, the car is as I thought, £349 deposit, £349 per month however it's over 4 years. I've decided this is a commitment I'm not prepared to make and have set about sortinjg out the suspension bushes on the Z4 instead.

When she's ready (hopefully at the weekend) I'll drop the E39 off and get the bushes changed on her too so I should have two much tighter cars shortly

Okay, so I'm not one for talking someone into something, however you are already paying around £150 per month on your current Zed. If you trade this in against a new Zed, they will settle the finance on it, anything leftover can be placed as a deposit on the new or given back to you as cash (which you can put towards a deposit on a house).

So for an extra £200, maximum per month you get a brand new Zed where you have chosen all the bits you want in the colour that you want and possibly free some equity for a deposit on a house that you are going to rent.

Hmmmm it may just be me :)

Something's missing from that deal...

£349 a month (x36), and a balloon of £14,500 - well that only makes £27,064. Considering there's 0% interest on that and the OTR price is over £30k it doesn't add up. Unless the dealer is offering something like a £5k or £6k contributed deposit it just doesn't make sense, and it's unusual for a dealer to put in a deposit unless the customer is as well. That being said, maybe it's just a corking deal!

As stated a couple of posts above, it's £349/month over 4 years.

Oh yeah, missed that post! :headbang:

In that case that is one incredible deal. I'm not a fan of the new zeds as it happens but for a £30k+ car that's amazing.

IMO save your money, it really is not worth it unless you intend running it into the ground. If you want to lose 15K plus, I'll glady take it off your hands.

PS I bought my Zed new for about 32K it's now worth 7ish, I will never buy new again, let someone else take the hit.

+1, I want to be able to put more than a sandwich in the boot and still put the roof down, seriously after seeing all the stuff we all had in our Zeds on the recent Islay trip I challenge anyone in an E89 to put the same amount of stuff in their car and still lower the roof.
I completely ruins the point of the car for me, here's hoping BMW see the light and release a proper Sports Car again.
