What did you newbies do to your car today?

Plates look good. Just out of curiosity what does your Department of Motor Vehicles charge you for the plates? In my State, in Australia, there is a variable order fee plus a variable yearly fee. They really see you coming when you want to get personalised plates. Ranging from $180 to $400 for the order, and between $109 and $469 annual fee!!! Really out of control and how they can justify the annual fee is beyond me, but thats the way it currently is.

Yikes! Those fees are outrageous. California promotes the use of personalized plates. They offer many different styles and themes. I think I paid about $100 initially and then about $50 a year. Their idea is that thousands of people paying $50 a year is better than a few paying $400
