What did you do to your Z4M today?

Did the elastic mat retrofit on my driver’s seat, which was getting a bit uncomfortable. It’s made a massive difference, but I wonder if BMW left these springs off the M Sport seat because they add a bit of HGV-style seat bounce. Might just be my imagination though! :D

You can see here that the rearmost embedded plastic “spring” has snapped where it attaches to the seat frame.

Collected it after having the water pump replaced. I had a very enjoyable journey home reminding myself why six is better than four (or none).
In the end, I had to order the water pump from a main dealer, who had it shipped from BMW in Germany. There is no alternative source that I could find in Australia or Europe.

To be fair, I don't find the BMW parts prices that bad (that includes things like floor mats). Often they are cheaper than third party products and you always get 10% discount on parts in any case when you ask (not sure in your case as you will have a British accent so they might not like you over there :poke: )

I bet that was cheap! Where did you get it from, I'm getting a bit jumpy about mine needing one and ruining a ring trip - getting to the point where I'd rather have one in the boot on ring trips!

They discounted the delivery time instead - they told me that it would be eight weeks and it took two.
It was around £400, so not horrendous, although aftermarket E46 M3 water pumps are readily available for less than a quarter of that. Unfortunately, the spindle is too long and there is an additional feed that would need to be plugged.

I finally took the plunge and bought a lightened single mass fly and clutch kit for the M from burkhart engineering - aiming to get it replaced before the summer is out, will report back on hot it goes for anyone interested! Aside from that next plan is to get an order into millway for all the rear end solid/spherical bushes so I can fully rebush the rear end over winter this year. The car was bloody fantastic at the ring last month so I'm feeling motivated!!

Can you send me the details I'll get one ordered immediately, I was expecting like a grand lol!

This is the current part number that supersedes all previous numbers:

11517838135

It’s unique to the Z4M and Z3M (with the S54).

I’d be very interested to know how you find it. My clutch takes up much closer to the floor that previously and the car has covered 100k mostly very hard miles. I always rev-match when changing gear, but I’ve accelerated hard from a standing start countless times.
Can you post links to the bushes when you’ve ordered them please. Have you rebushed the front yet?

There are two different iterations of water pump used in all of the S54 applications - one for the E46 and the other for the Z4M and Z3M. The former has a longer shaft and an extra hole in the body (which is what she said), the latter is a choad without the hole.

Interesting that the part seems Z3/E36, but I thought that you said that the spindle was wrong?
If you follow the realoem “Part 11517838135 was found on the following vehicles:” tree to its final conclusion, the E36 applications are E36/7 and E36/8 Z3M S54 roadster and coupe.

I paid 798 AUD including GST (levied at 10%). That is almost exactly the same as the price shown in your screenshot, assuming VAT is 20%.

Interesting - I'd not really considered how it might affect pedal feel/take-up! Will report back after fitting - which kit did you go for out of interest?

Yep will post a full list of the bushes I ordered once I've committed - aiming to get them on order end of the month.

Front end I kinda wish I'd got on and done the millway stuff there, but I went for powerflex black series for the front lollipops and arb bushes. I've also gone powerflex black for the rtab bushes and rear arb bushes. I'm gonna leave those as they're only a year and a thousand miles old, but everything else at the rear is getting the millway solid/spherical treatment!

I’m still using the OEM clutch and flywheel. Due to the change in height at which the clutch disengages, I suspect the clutch is nearing the end of its life (and/or the slave cylinder is failing). Ideally, I’ll fit a lightweight flywheel when I replace the clutch, so it will be good to have your feedback.
