What device gives oil temp please ?!

Hi, I want to be able to keep an eye on oil temp on my e85 3.0si.
I purchased a wifi adapter and iPhone app but it does not see oil temp from the car, although the garages expensive Snap on tool gets it from the OBD port so the car does give out the info to things that can read it.
P3 fancy air vent gauge have confirmed themselves they don't see oil temp.
Apart from an old school dash top gauge has anybody managed to read oil temp with anything please?
Thanks

oil temp can be found inside hiden menu of the mileage display .

Thanks, yes on my app it's Engine Oil Temp but it's not activated on app, I questioned the app provider and they said it's an expensive add on they have not bought from BMW where as the expensive Snap On tool has that expensive option.
The reading I've done says the hidden cluster menu does show Coolant temp but does not show Oil temp.

Other than for general interest, what are you going to do with the oil temp information? Do you suspect a problem?

(not trying to be clever here, just wondering what you're hoping to achieve considering these are just normal road cars)

I do drift days at Oulton Park on their wet stages and I've done a track day at Oulton Park but would like to do more track days.
I would feel more comfortable keeping an eye on temps so if the oil started to get too hot I would ease off on track and come in to cool down for a while. I will look at getting Torque more but my quick look just send it's not available for iPhone....?! Thanks a lot.

Good to see a Z at Oulton Park. Used to go there as a teenager as it was the local track. Is that Old Hall Corner? Anyway, on the point of extra gauges my idle Googling brought up this pic. Looks rather neat I think.

That's like going backwards . it was ok in 90's but now you can simply connect any device via obd port

Those gauges look neat but perhaps not the easiest angle or eye line. Currently looking into a cheap Android phone and Torque App - dam you Apple. :headbang:

Would an Amazon Fire do the job? Looks a bargain at £35! https://www.amazon.co.uk/Amazon-Fire-7-Inch-Tablet-8GB/dp/B00Y3TM6CO/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1491911923&sr=8-3&keywords=android+tablet

Are you sure the n52 3.0si engine has an oil temp sensor? I was under the impression it didn't.... If anyone can confirm before I bother purchasing the torque pro app it would be appreciated! Cheers

Ha ha, must be showing my age. I call a halt at fur dice though, and names on the sunscreen, so no need to kick me off the forum just yet.

Ed doe, the garage I used plugged an expensive Snap On diagnostics tool into the OBD2 port and it did see the engine oil temp so yes the car does know it, saw it myself.
