What could have caused this? (fire/salvage car)

What causes that kind of failure? Diff? Fuel tank leak? Brakes? Looks like it started in the cabin or below the rear of the car.

Looks as if it had paint poured over bonnet and boot prior to torching so my guess would be a jilted lover or partner. Did you like the way I didn’t say wife or girlfriend, very pc I thought :?
