What colour calipers?

Hi All,

I've bought a used set of Z4M calipers for refurb so I can rotate mine off. Just wondering what people think about the colour to suit my imola red roadster. Do I go with standard black, satin black, silver, red, yellow, gold?

Any pictures for inspiration welcomed.

For me red or yellow calipers often look best, but not on a red car.

Silver is another good option, but not if you want to show off the calipers against the silver alloys. Maybe the best conservative option.

Black... probably not? Some sort of metallic bright green if you want the calipers to stand out?

Definitely hard.

I'm currently thinking about painting my calipers... so many more options for a black car, but I'll likely go red or black.

Blue seems quite popular too.

But personally I'd have to go for red!

Stock calipers are too small imo to want to draw extra attention. I'd go with black, good for brake and doesn't stand out too much.

Agreed

I would stick with black too. Does the M use the same calipers as the 3.0si? I thought I saw a common part number quoted online.

Black - I did the same with the si, just back to standard as they are not particularly impressive

Satin black as standard with machined front faces. As people have said why try and show off what are very poor calipers for a performance machine. It will look like a Fiesta if you try to bling it. It just doesn’t work with sliding pin calipers.

And replace the rattle clips with nice shiny chromed ones

Yeah I'm going to stay black. I bought some new rattle clips actually. How do you get them chromed?

I bought a chromed set as part of the group buy on this forum a number of years ago. Not sure where you get them now, I will want to do the same on my M so will have a search

Yes, think you are right if I can’t find pre chromed ones.

Does touches are nice, as it is subtle and quality.

I went OE black on my refurb. Its a coating rather than paint/powder coat. Had it done at TS Engineering.

I did front and rears, all new seals and covers, plus new stainless pistons for the front. I also fitted brass slide bushings.

The rattle clips were also coated black to stop corrosion, and the brake line clips coated silver.

That's interesting.

Ross at RBM fitted new front calipers to my MC this year and they are silver!

Until I get around to painting them to match the carriers.
