We also have a Black BMW 118d and for trackdays and other fun times I have this:

This is a pic I took just after I fitted the 215 bhp N/A Cosworth engine it has :-) using some software to make the bonnet opaque so you can see into the engine bay.

It's fun but with no heater/doors/windows etc. it's definitely a fair weather toy!!

Is that a dax rush? I knew a guy who built one and as a teenager I'd go to see him at weekends and we'd spend the morning fettling his car, then he took me out when it passed sva and it was amazing!!!!

Thanks guys! I'm a big fan of that era of car too, such a great point in time where there was a nice balance between purity and usability. Most of them seemed to have enough Concessions to comfort without resorting to the modern trend of over isolation and protection-in fact I'd have no qualms about using the golf everyday and I could genuinely see it lasting forever, although I may have to ditch the chassis-wrecking coil overs for that!

Buzyg, I've never heard of the fiat lump being put in but I can't see why it couldn't be done with a bit of clever fab work as most things seem to fit a mk2 with the right amount of skill, time and money! I've seen everything from vtecs to V8's being used though given my limited level of any of the above, I'll have to stick with the vw 2.0l 16v option!

Totally different animal than the M but I love it the interior is stunning in it and its brilliant during a tough winter and is a joy to cruise long distances on the Motorway

It is indeed a Dax Rush and for the first two years I had no weather gear at all, which, combined with the lack of a heater made it, for sure, a fair weather toy!

I now have a roof and doors but that's only improves the protection from the wet - it's still fair weather only - so not been used yet this year!

Hopefully be out and about soon though.

A right mix! Some good stuff in there! When I was a lotus owner it was common to run the exige all year and then buy a 500 quid winter shed in november...

I'm sure I've seen this car before....you aren't from around north Wales/ Cheshire are you? I swear I've seen it at a mini dax rush meet about 6 years ago in some random car park...

,
Well you could have seen it before but it's only been to Wales once for a trackday at Llandow, furthest north it's ever been is Cadwell Park I'm more Bedfordshire than Cheshire!

Maybe bending the rules on the "what car..." Front but 2 wheels are always overlooked! The MC is my daily, and this is my toy:
