Sooo I've been doing sad defeated dog eyes at swmbo and she has given in and agreed that once the Zed is sold, I'm allowed to keep some of the monies to buy a hatch to replace my diesel shed until the new Honda gets here.
I'm not sure what hatch to get, what would you buy with £3k? I'm after something to get the blood pumping on the windy roads on the way to work.
Current contenders are: Audi S3, civic type r(EP3), megane 225.

Youve offered limited choices  you would need a blindfold to love the megane :o other than a Fiat Multipla i struggle to conjure up a sadder looking vehicle

Yes the Magane looks poop, but I've heard it goes quite well.
Sorry, I didn't mean pick one of these. Those 3 are just examples of what I'm looking for, if you can think of something else please do propose it :D No TT's though, needs to be a hatch.

TT is a hatch mate :? ive just done 1000miles to France & back in mine , a great all rounder :driving: spacious in cabin & decent boot (seats go down ) DSG 250 BHP its a rapid tourer & averaged 34mpg with a decent time around 90-100 in France
You would need closer to £4k for a V6 but £3k would get a decent 225 example

I'm sure its a lovely car mate but I need room for 4 regular sized chaps and space for a few big bags in the boot. I sound like a mobster now, its for cricket... honest!
We currently manage to squeeze into my 3dr punto so I'm sure a civic or similar will be fine. Its gotta be a fast hatch because I'm just not willing to give up my youthful ways yet and go full saloon or estate.

Looks better than the TT to my eyes and so much more fun to drive, for the money.

See if you can eek out another 1k from Swmbo and take a test drive in one of these.

:D

Megane is a deffinate maybe, but I would probably never hear the end of owning it, "Shakin' that Assssss" and all that nonsense.

Mazda would be nice but £485 road tax.... really? :headbang:

Have to agree the Tax has stopped me buying an MPS. That plus the Zed would be a grand before moving. The Mk2 is half that, but alas has a silly bonnet scoop.

Save a feww hundred on the road Tax and get one of these.

I venture out in mine, with the MPS boys and have no trouble keeping them behind, on the fun roads. Chassis is a little Gem.

Focus ST Mk1 is another with the same chassis and a few more horses, but trying to find an good one, with less than monster miles, is next to impossible.

Not my kind of car, but there are a few half decent Skooby hatches around 3k. Seems to fit your criteria perfectly.

Enjoyed scanning the classified any how, hope you find a good one.

Item 271789697787 on eBay. (Not mine)

Do it in style and comfort, who needs an hatch when you've got a big boot.

SWMBO might want to hit you but she'll come round :)

Friend of mine has the Megane 225 with a remap and it is rapid and good fun. Can't argue with the Multipla comparison though...
