What car did you pass your test in?

Vauxhall Nova. It was red with a beige interior.

My dad wanted me to get one of those as my first car but I bought a 205 GTi instead :driving:

2006 Vauxhall Astra 1.6...wasn't a bad first car to learn to drive in.

Sounds like most of you had to learn in some pretty awesome cars - I'm guessing most didn't come with Power steering...or ABS for that matter ?? You guys should be like Pro's on the track... :driving:

Do you know what, I am not sure I remember... It was white, my instructor had thumbs like big toes, and I think it may have been a Micra. I passed in Crieff, Perthshire - one set of traffic lights at the time, no roundabouts and a shed load of hill starts... It's a wonder I didn't kill myself the first time I drove on proper town roads...

likewise! I passed in a diesel Citroen Saxo, up in the highlands - it was several months after passing before I had to drive on either a dual carriageway or roundabout. The nearest two were 120 miles away in Inverness. It makes it rather sad that despite that, I have better lane discipline on roundabouts, dual carraigeways/m-ways than most drivers I see.

Absolutely, none of this newfangled computer controlled, fly by wire nonsense, the only car electronics were the distributor and the AM radio :poke:

original Mini (instructors car) .... thought it was great looked at buying one a few years later and luckily it broke down on the test drive and put me off.

Hahaha Brilliant Z4-35i...thats given me something to chuckle about - I wont lie, I appreciate being young and having been introduced to cars that have toys as standard that wouldn't have even been dreamt of say, early 90's.

Hmmm I wonder what teenagers will be learning to drive in and the gadgets their cars will have in say...another 15-20 years !!

2004 1.2 16v renault clio expression! Loved it so bought one! Electrics were crap tho! Great little motor at the time had the most HP in a 1.2

Amazing how important stupid stuff is at 17!

My 1957 Riley 1.5 that my brother had crashed the day before, so it had a plastic orange beaker duct-taped onto the car to serve as an indicator and a very wonky bumper.

I expect they won't like the GPS tracking and active speed monitoring that will have to be installed to be able to get insurance

By then proper fuel will be rationed anyway and we'll all have to drive eco cars, enjoy what driving liberties are left as it's only going one way

Hillman Imp, also my first car and passed first time. Took my bike test on a hired bike a MTX125 if memory serves me right :)

Hi all, following on from best/worst car you have owned can i ask what car you passed your driving test in?-(dont think this has been asked before but i may be wrong  )
For me it was a B reg red Nissan micra :)

+1

I was planning to take my test in the Red Cherry 1.3L, we had bought after my wife past her test. We had walked past a local garage and she had pointed out the shiney little Nissan saying, "that's just like the one I past my test in". So I booked my test date. A few days before hand the Cherry developed an intermittent problem with the indicators. Fearing it might let me down, I quickly called the instructor who had taught my wife and arranged to use that car plus an hours lesson before. You know what's coming the car turned up and it was a Red Micra. I nearly crashed into the on coming traffic the first right hand turn, the steering was so much lighter. Any way soon adjusted and natualy passed 1st time. That was my only ever driving lesson. (was a little easier back in the 80's) :D
