I've got 10 weeks notice that I need to do at work. They won't start me on any big projects so I've got heehaw to do all day. So how can I fill this time Sat in front of a computer for 10 more weeks (2 down).

Learn a language? Gamble my life savings? Create an online empire? Become an internet stalker???? Ideas please.

i would try to get some learning in for the next job, either that or just dick your time up the wall by the coffee machine.

have they put you on gardening leave or just wont let you out of the contract?

we had a similar thing here where someone was held to their 3 months. thin was they were stopped from lab work 1 month in and handed everything over. they were literally just sat at her desk doing nothing. total pointless waist of time. her boss was told to let her go by others at his level but he was being pig headed and made her stay till the last day

Do you have any interest in coding/software development? This website is awesome, I often go on it when I have down time:

http://www.codecademy.com/

edd_jedi, believe it or not i've already done most of the stuff on codecademy as it's job related for me. Thinking I might learn some iOS stuff. I was speaking to a recruiter at JP Morgan a month back and they said they were looking for iOS developers and they were rarer than rocking horse poo. Said they would be allowed to write their own pay check.

domsz4, my boss is just being a dick. It would be great if they said i could just go home. There's an engine sat in my garage that needs stripped and rebuilt.

kevinmarkwhite, that is a great idea. There are a few I don't particularly like.

Call as many meetings as you can and then task your boss with as many actions as possible. He'll soon let you go !

Otherwise, just try and make use of it best you can , as you will kick yourself next time you are snowed under

Make everyone in your company a cup of tea and a biscuit, start planning your leaving drinks party :)

backup all the company accounts, potential orders and all useful contacts :)

This.

And go to all the websites you are registered on with your work email address and change it to a personal one. I managed to do most of mine before I left BT, but the ones I didn't change, or forgot about, were a right pain in the ass to change if I had forgotten the password because where does it send the reset email ? Yup

Then go order a new living room suite - should be made and delivered in about 9 weeks :D

Got tomorrow all planned out. Pulled the heater fan from the 205 and going to rebuild it at my desk. Will do the gearbox next

If you're literally doing nothing you can negotiate. A guy at my last place was made to sit on his own, not speak to anybody in marketing (his team), had no access to company email/servers etc, and was forced to leave the office and sit in a coffee shop if anything important was being discussed! He complained to HR that it was basically torture and they let him go on gardening leave.

Very good Andysat. :D

Gardening leave or an early departure just IS NOT going to happen unless they find a replacement..... which probably isn't going to happen as i've just been told they have had zero applicants with ALL the requirements to do my job so they are going to have to split the role and employ 2 people. I suggest doubling my money and i might think about staying

I bought a cheap acoustic guitar at lunch time. Not played in years so going to brush up my skills and see if i can't get a party started.

I built a sledge in my notice period when I left my last job lol its good too
