Can the DAB radio, or TV option be retrofitted to a car with Pro Nav?
what can be retrofitted to E89

The DAB is a £300 option when new, and the TV about £800. I dont really want either, just wonderig if it can be done and maybe I can scam it from them as my compensation for no hill start and the multiple visits for my leak!

Of course nearly any option can be added later if you throw enough money at it, but dealers might not be willing to attempt it if there isn't a factory supported kit.

if you have idrive its probs just coding to switch it on, but is may be wrong,if you have no idrive it would be a full install with monitor etc which would be £££

Not sure if its the same, but on the e87 1 series I bought last year, just before the Apps were an option, it couldn't be retrofitted because alhough I have everything else, iDrive, phone prep etc, I didn't spec the £80 option for smartphone usb integration (that allows you to plug your smartphone into the cradle and use it for multimedia as well as calls). I had seperate USB interface, and the option to put a cradle under the armrest, but unless the £80 option was installed you couldn't use the multimedia cradle, which this uses.
I think it basically connected the usb to the phone cradle.
Obviously then its the coding etc which is what I guess this retrofit does. but on the 1 series I dont even think they offer this retrofit, so it might be the retrofit upgrades the bits you need.
Its probably easier to just ask the parts guy.
There is a guy called Patrys who is on some forums who can install this sort of thing...but the fear was always that if he updated software, could BMW just overwrite it?
All this is from a year ago, so may have changed by now.
The BMW Apps for iphone works through the usb port, so I dont know why they needed the cradle option. At the time, that couldn't be added.
I also think they were saying it needed a "combox" but no one could clarify what that was. They said my car didn't have it, but I found some info saying what it did and my car did do that, so I gave up in the end.

The apps retrofit is for cars that already have Navigation and iDrive. I compiled the list from the ETK. No idea at all on cost.
The apps retrofit has a TON of prereq's. There are two possible configurations.
Here is what is in the ETK:
IMPORTANT NOTICE: If all three CIC video inputs are already in use then service installation of 'BMW Apps' will not be possible. Consult the notices in the installation manual prior to ordering!

and then the Sweeping Technologies menu option.
