What bulb type fits this

One of my bulb holders is a bit corroded and giving me intermittent error lights so bought a replacement.

part number 63216903651 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-Genuine-Rear-Light-Lamp-Bulb-Socket-Holder-Yellow-Silver-63216903651-/171870013949?hash=item28044049fd:g:q48AAOSwGotWqSR-

But unlike the current holder, the little indents for the bulb prongs to slide into/rotate aren't at (in clock face terms) 9 & 3 they're at 9&2 one side is offset slightly

anyone know what bulb type this needs

Did you get the correct part then? Would assume it's the offset 21W type but really need pictures of them both.

yeah right part and the pictures would be identical aside from the indents being horizontal on one and 09:10 on the other

i've 380 and 382 bulbs here and neither fit it

Well it's an indicator bulb socket for a start. So do you have clear lens indicators? If not then you have the wrong part, PY21 and PY21Y bulbs are different bases.

*grumble* that's it didn't notice the dual lines on that f**k sake
63211379399 is the one then

guess i've a spare now that i don't need lol is there a way to coat the silver connections on those holders to renew them, it's just corroded a bit, or even pop the metal inserts out and i could switch them

Someone with a facelift or clear spots might want it? I assume that to replace the connector you need to remove the pins and your connector has corrosion directly where the bulb makes contact? I don't think they will dismantle much further without breaking (i.e. not designed to) - you could remove your reversing bulb holder while you wait as it's not a required bulb.

If you can't clean the contacts without dismantling I'd just get a new holder.
