What books are you reading ?

I nearly always have several books on the go, mainly non-fiction and concerned with aircraft, cars, transport/machinery and history.

I don't know if a thread on this has been started before but I thought it may be interesting for any bookworms on here if we posted cover photos of anything we're reading at the moment or may have just finished.

So to kick things off here is what I've got my nose in at the moment :

I've been after this John Dibbs 'Flying Legends' book for quite some time. It normally sells new for £20-£25 but after alot of searching I bought this decent second - hand copy on Ebay for £3.96 delivered !!!! I love a bargain ! :D

I've just finished this excellent book about my sporting hero Jim Clark :driving:

This is another John Dibbs book. His WWII Warbirds photography is quite superb. If your interested in the Battle of Britain then this is excellent.

And here's a few more I'm working through at the moment.

The last novel I read was in English Lit class at school. :D

Currently bed time cabinet contains:- "Times Atlas of the World", "Times Atlas and Encyclopedia of the Sea" and the "Commodore 64 Advanced User Guide". :D

Ye I know I'm an old nerd. :D 8)

The Fifth Elephant, Terry Pratchet.

Love a bit of Pratchett. Just ploughing through The Broken Window by Jefferey Deaver, not his best, before I treat myself to Mort and Moving Pictures

You'll probably enjoy The Right Stuff, if you haven't already read it or seen the film.

Just finished that - now reading The State of the Art by Iain M Banks.

Just reading "Earls Court Motor Show" by Russell Hayes - takes me back!

The first time I went my dad picked me up at primary school on his motorbike, we parked it at Wimbledon and we got the tube to West Brompton some time in the 60s - I loved it! So he took me every year after that.

Your story took me back too. I think I'll search out that book! I recall going to the show for the first time with my dad in the mid 60's. This was the time when you could sit in pretty much anything on display and even though just a lad, no staff on any stand made me feel it wasn't appropriate to jump into their vehicles and imagine myself one day owning and driving one. We went pretty much every year after that and lamented it's move to the NEC, a place that in my opinion never served up the same special atmosphere that shows at Earls Court created :)
