What Autochangers would be compatible?

Wife is picking up her DEc06 2.0 SE on Friday and the first thing she wants to do is get a cd autochanger fitted. NO point trying to get her to link ipod/mp3 etc so...

Is there a particular model I should be looking for?
DOn't want to buy a unit that is not compatible.
I have searched the forum and have had a look at the installation guide in the bottom cubbyhole, prewired so looks like a lot of stripping out connecting up and refitting, couple of hours work maybe.

It should be prewired for the BMW Multichanger, perhaps your easiest solution would be to fit the BMW one they can be picked up fairly cheaply on ebay

I'm not saying that is the correct one just giving you an example and many are cheaper.

You say no point in trying link an iPod etc, but seriously look into the aux in, loads on here about it, simply a lead that plugs into the back of the standard head unit and gives you a 3.5mm jack that connects via the earphone port of any mp3 device
 
Thanks for your response. The wife for some reason wants to se all the cd's she has sitting about so the MP3 would not get her using them. I can't understand it but thats her thinking.
 
mrs gannet is the same - she has an iPod, has used it about twice in four yearsish :roll:

all my music is streamed in the house - she claims she cant use it as you have to turn the tv on to choose what to listen to... simpler solution being looked into...
 
Just a word of caution if you buy a non-BMW changer, with the intention of getting an adapter: buy the adapter first as they can be difficult to get hold of. I had an old Sony CDX-T70MX MP3 autochanger from a previous car. Every website I found which was advertising the Sony-BMW Connects2 adapter didn't actually have it in stock. I eventually got a second-hand one off ebay for a tenner, and it was well worth it, as I now have a 6 cd mp3 autochanger in the boot, which plays about 1200 songs, with each cd being selectable from the dash.

I know most people use ipods, but the kit I have would only set you back about £50 all in if you keep an eye on ebay, and doesn't mean you have to keep putting the ipod in the car.
 
Update.

Just been to see about getting a unit fitted but they said they would need the fixing kit to hold the unit in place. Have had a search but cannot find a part number. |Visited Spares dept who said I would have to buy the complete unti with autochanger £569 :rofl:

£100 fitted from BMW :headbang:

Anyone know the part number for the kit?? so I can get one fitted on the same place for under £300 instead??

They can't have looked too hard, wonder why they would sell you a new unit at £500 instead of the brackets at £20.

I don't think they are willing to sell the kit on it's own as they want to upsell you the complete unit.
Thanks for that link but is it a US site? and is there not 1 part number for the whole kit?

Real OEM uses exactly the same diagrams as BMW. Try sending the list of items to someone like BM Miniparts
