Might be being stupid, but only just noticed these. Are they sensors for the alarm or something (although I know the alarm sensor that always causes problems in at the back of the engine bay in the centre)?

 
They're spring loaded - when you release the bonnet they push it up so you can get your fingers under it to get at the catch. Go push one down - it will pop back up :thumbsup:

They serve this function too... They can be screwed in and out to move the bonnet up and down.

I'd rather they were nipples though :(
