What are these mysterious items for ??

Hi Folks - can I solicit your opinion on the two items shown in the jpg attachment to this thread. I found these in the boot after returning home just after purchasing the vehicle (2004 E85 2.5 SE) and have no idea what they are for or even if they have any connection with the vehicle. Before I discard them I would be grateful for any opinion you can offer.

Don't look familiar to me... may be worth speaking to someone whos broken one? Might have a better chance, especially with the top piece!
Can you see any part numbers of BMW logo stamps?

Thanks for replies so far, if they are associated with a hard top cover then they have no purpose on my car which is soft top. The soft top was replaced by previous owner who also arranged to have the hydraulic pump and motor renewed and repositioned to the corner of the boot, so not sure whether these parts could have been part of the original hood and motor installation.

I believe the suggestion meant that they may be the parts which 'fill the gaps' when a hard top is fitted. I have no idea, but if they are they will be of value to someone else.
I did wonder if the top pic was the hood latching mechanism from the centre between the roll hoops, but not too sure?

The first picture is the soft top locking mechanism for when the top is down.

The Second item appears to have trim on it. Does that match your car? I would venture to say it is nothing to do with the Z4, but I've been wrong before. :)

Any holes under your dashboard?

The hardtop, doesn't have any leather parts, and that cover thing, looks leather. Not for the hardtop IMO :)

Hi,
If you want to sell the hard top side covers i have been looking for some.
I have no idea what the other bit is but if it has a part number a google search will tell you what it is
Cheers

Just a wild stab in the dark tbh.
Such small parts it may be better to save them until you find out what they are rather than bin on a whim.

The first item is definitely the soft top lock 54317116382, number 9 in this diagram20210429_141606.jpg
The second two items look vaguely like the hardtop side lock covers but I think they may be aftermarket versions perhaps as those aren't BMW Parts labels, they have a small plastic piece on the end which the BMW ones don't and the real things are cloth trimmed to match the hardtop lining, number 3 in this diagram  20210429_141833.jpg

D'oh - I confused Z4newbie2021's post with the OP's - please ignore my post!

Yes, they're hard top side covers, like these:

Great to have so many replies. With your help we have solved the first item, as for the second and third pictures I have enclosed another picture from a different view point. The item is covered in leather trim (as the cars seat leather) and has what appears to be a swiveling bracket at the LH end that slides on to something plus a metal clip at the RH end

Ah I see, one piece, two photos!

According to the part number it is a cover for the hardtop.

Alas you 're looking at the wrong Post. The question is, what are the items in the OP's first post?

Indeed - and apologies for being the cause of the confusion!

I've edited my erroneous post now with strikethrough text - I always meant to find out how to do that!

The second piece looks like some kind of holder for either a sat-nav screen or maybe a second rear view mirror; driving instructor's mirror? The swivel bracket might clip onto a (missing) suction cup?? :idunno:
