What are the must have or most desired 'extras'?

All of them, I particularly like my heated seats and heated steering wheel at this time of year. Auto dip headlights are great at night, Wind deflector (fly catcher) is a must for me as well.

Get as many whistles and bells as you can afford! The three I most wanted when I got the car 5 years ago were: iDrive, heated leather sport seats and PDC front/back.

I was looking intially at buying an XK8 and all of the ones I looked at came with lots of extras even going back to mid 1991 cars. My wife most definitely did not want another BMW until she saw the one we now own. Its arctic white, has heated leather seats which I reckon are an absolute must, well the heated bit anyway. Mine has sports suspension, take it or leave it, cup holders, good idea but the centre console lid has to be lifted to use them and xenon lights V-spoke 296 wheels thats about it :headbang: it did have a wind deflector and the fittings are in place but so far I havent found the deflector or its bag.
I didnt go looking for a Z4 because of my wife's comments however she simply fell in love with the one we have and so the extras didnt seem to matter. If I was speccing one up I would go for the iDrive with sat nav and Bluetooth, sports seats, non run flat tyres.

For me these are the must haves:

iDrive / Sat Nav
Sport seats
Leather - most have it but there are some usually the 18i that don't!
Heated seats (for UK not so much for southern Spain)
Folding door mirrors
Wind deflector
Cruise Control
PDC parking sensors
Brushed aluminium dash trim or carbon but not the plain satin silver that come on some basic specced cars

Those were the must haves for me, my car came with all of them except wind deflector which I retro fitted. Having the car now the only other extra that I really miss / want is extended lighting so I am now in the process of adding the footwell lights!

Personally I think BMW are really mean and stingy not to give things like PDC, folding door mirrors, wind deflector and extended lighting as standard on a car that costs this much when new.

Parking sensors don’t really concern me with a Z . Only 2 feet of car behind you . I suppose on the front would be more useful if you struggle with the bonnet length .

As most have said, heated sports seats are an essential for me. Parking sensors are useful and I would have liked auto-dimming headlights. I haven’t got iDrive but have an aftermarket Android screen which works well. Replacing the runflats has also made a big difference to the ride and would be high on my list..

Auto , Cruise, iDrive, PDC, heated seats...

Other things can be fitted after the event at relatively low cost...

Damn, I got almost everything so have nothing to aspire to now! :D More by luck than judgement though. Maybe ditch the run flats. Talking of run flats do you have the get rid of all 4 in one go or can you just ,say, replace the rears first and then later the fronts?

You can do that although it’s not recommended :?

Yeah, I thought that might be the case. I am not sure how much tread mine have. I don't think they are too bad. I'll have a look at swapping them (maybe) in the spring. Norfolk road sufaces are really awful tbh.
