What are the Kids Driving?

Some very lucky children, I had to get a £300 loan to buy my 1st car, a 1969 Ford Escort.
My daughter now drives a Corsa 1.2 and my son has an Astra VXR.
Very lucky kids these days.
Myself and all my brothers never had anything bought for us, the best we got was our dad going guarantor for us when we bought our bikes, our responsibility to pay for them. My first bike was £60, second £200 and my third was new (£1700) so needed my dad to get a loan.
I think I was about 25 before having a car, bikes since 16 though.

I struggle posting pictures from my phone! So just use your imagination!

Is your lads mx5 a 1.6 or 1.8? Dose it have the LSD? If not I might have one he can have. My father in law loves these cars. Has loads of spare bits. He brought a slk to replace his mk2.5 but has not sold the mazer 2 years later!!

I'm imagining major cute.

It's a 1.8. I've not driven it yet. I can't fit in them. :( I doubt it has a LSD, wasn't mentioned in the advert and it's not been a track car in the past.

I thought when we promissed Harriet a car when she passed her test, she would be the only one. Come the time, all her mates were being given cars on their 17th Birthday, ....not even only when they'd passed their tests..

One girl still has it sat on her drive, unused and she's 18 now. Never bothered to learn or use it

Quite a few of them came with an LSD standard. I am sure you can check on the build information. I will check if he still has it and you can get to ox28 and he doesn't have one it's yours

Thx i'll check that out. I'm not that hands on these days, however my daughter's fiance of 10 years, aka other half, loves tinkering and would fit one in an instant.:)

My first sports car was an MX5 at 22, loved it - thought only the sports spec had the diff, although might have only been gen1 which mine was. Cracking entry into sports cars, with fun at low speeds!

My son drives a vw golf diesel silver very boring because he ain't driving mine lol   another happy zed owner

Working in a school I see all sorts.
I posted on here last year about one of the pupils whos parents had bought him an Audi RS6.
His brothers turn this year and he has some sort of Merc AMG.
Where do these kids go from there?
They have cars that some people aspire to own one day as their first car, how do they get excited about any other car they get in the future?
What happens if they have to come down the ladder a bit, most cars will feel pretty poor after what they have already had.

Wow - some lucky kids!

I got a job to save for my pug 306! I'm pretty sure that's what made me careful to look after it too! My kids wont be getting any handouts hah.
