As the title says, I'm just interested to hear people's thoughts.

While I would never build one of those fake M wannabe's, that 2.0i badge had to go. Yes I have a four pot and I'm happy to have a four pot, but I don't want to advertise the fact! To Zed owners and purists it's clear to see anyway, but for everyone else I like to keep them guessing

However I notice some people often go full on debadging and include the boot, Z4 badge etc. I've done this on cars in the past, including losing the key slot too (not good when the latch breaks), but I imagine if I owned an M I wouldn't want to go hiding it.

So what do you think? Do people like the debadged look or do you like to wave that badge loud and proud?

mine has no badges other than BMW that's it prefer it that way the wife however wants me to put 30i back on.But I like the surprise on unsuspecting peoples face when you blast them away  :driving:

Whereas I like to slowly pull away at the lights when I hear the revs next door so as to not embarrass myself when they clearly have a faster car

Mine was debadged on the wings by the previous owner, I'll be re-badging it though. I can understand doing it on non m models, but personally I like the exterior as BMW intended, wheels aside.

Debadged my old e86 the day I bought it! Instantly regretted debadging the wings. I thought they looked too long and plain!

I prefer the cleaner lines of a debadged car, although sometimes I think it would be amusing to stick the 2.0 badges back on just to surprise people :P

I like that Idea!

I got rid of the side badges as I also prefer the lines without. Like you I just can't make my mind up about the rear. I'm not sure if the boot lock will stick out like a sore thumb or make the back look 'wonky'.

I'm giving it a wash at the weekend so might try it without.

Even with a badge most people are completely clueless. I like mine thou.

Didn't notice it was debadged until I got it home . Still I think I prefer the smooth lines. I for one won't be putting them back on.

 :D

I always think de-badging lesser models to hide the fact is a bit sad unless you actually like the smoother look I suppose. But de-badging an ///M is cool and probably reduces tail chasing by wannabes in GTi's, the Beemer Tifosi will know but many others wouldn't realise until you disappear 8)

I guess I'm both sad and like the smoother look

To be fair I would never lie about it being a 2.0i, I've just carried out so much work on it to make it individual I feel like the 2.0i badge spoils it. I'm not trying to be an M, a 3.0, a 2.5 or a 2.2 I just want people to appreciate the look without prejudging the engine first. And I do prefer it without.

I'm thinking of getting rid of the badges from a purely 'detailing' point of view. Lots easier to clean and polish without the badges in the way!
