Why would you spray anywhere near the grass and risk contamination with dirt and grass on whatever you sprayed, unless the desire was just to make a shape on the lawn??

Excellent point. Definitely an amateurish move on my part. But upon close inspection, I actually didn't transfer any foreign debris from the procedure. Along with a bit of wet-sanding between coats... the only worry I had about this potential issue was for the final coats of lacquer. Turned out quite well!

Won't be able to provide any final pics yet since I'll be putting them on this Thursday. But intGr8r is on the right track.

Just the fronts. :) I don't think the back needs changing, since it's the same colour as the car anyway.

Oh, BTW, thanks for the referral for the paint. I dunno where I would have found it without you.

No probs man,

Checking again I didn't have enough to do another set (I tried)

But take your time and it will look factory :)

When I show people mine they just assume it came that way

Update: Geez... I'm a little disappointed...

The Imola Red spray paint from the eBay site turned out a shade darker than what it should be. I think it's closer to the Imola Red of the E46 M3 (even though the colour code is the same). Oh well... too late... the new reflectors are on the car now (and might I add that I'll never do this again - my hands are still aching from puttin' those suckers in.). I guess the colour matches the rear reflectors when the light's not on. :(

Thanks again to all that have helped me on this quest. I'm happy that I don't have the ugly orange reflectors now, but not totally satisfied of the final results.

Rick put up a few pics,

and there is a difference in older Imola and yes pant code is similar,

I think we have 405 but then II after it,
We have Imola Red 2

I think the first Imola is for pre 2001 cars as I have seen a 01 M3 same color red as ours
