Started the zed up tonight after a few weeks of sitting there....

Cluncking noise to start with from top of head it seems ??
The car sits on a slight slope towards the house..... would it be the tappets being slightly starved of oil on start up ? as after it gets going noise dissapears and car runs smoothly ?

Anyone had similar issues ??

I sometimes get a bit of tappet noise after not being used for a while but that’s all it is, a tick. I don’t think tappets would clunk.

More than a tick..... clonking sound but disappears after a min or less.....have searched forum and did see someone posted very similar issue a few years ago....

I know it’s not normally in issue on that engine , but timing chain tensioner ?

as Toyah once said..... "ITS a MYSTERY" !!

possibly.... going to give her a good ride out tomorrow night...… have had her running for about a hour with no noise and just ticking away nicely ?

I had a similar noise on mine from cold startup, lasted about 5-10 seconds. I too thought it was coming from the head. Left it at my mechanics and they diagnosed it as a buggered starter motor. Noise I was hearing was apparently it not disengaging properly.

May be of some use, or not - good luck.
