WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!! Good bye Runflats ..

i finally made the decision to change the Potenzas Runflats and all I can say is that finally I am safe from the wandering, tram lining, sudden dangerous drifting when hitting cats eye, being shaken apart on slightly damaged road surfaces and the list goes on!!
All I can say guys is that if you have these, do your spine and nerves a favour and change them. It is such a radical change it shocked me, with f1's all round costing me £465 and fitted for free on my driveway at home Tyres On The Drive were great, cheapest I could get them bought and fitted anywhere for 255 35's and 225 40's.

I am really looking forward to changing the runflats on mine, I'll have the funds to change them in the summer :)

Honestly you will look back and think how did you last so long !! What were you thinking of putting on??
 
Good that you noticed an improvement. I never experienced this on my Zed which had non RFs when I bought it. I have however just changed from Goodyear NCT5s RFs on my 1 series to Michellin PS3s all round and I have to say I'm kinda underwhelmed so far - it had a harsh ride before and, er, has a harsh ride now :cry:

I've read many posts on BMW forums about it being a revelation, supposedly transforming handling and ride - but personally I not feeling it - I certainly wouldn't bother replacing perfectly good run flats for such a marginal improvement.
 
Hey all, new here... glad to see such positive messages about changing off of RFs... does anyone know if a garage will buy the RFs for part worn if they're in good nick or is that wishful thinking?
 
So when you change over from run flats, do you advise your insurance company?

Are they bothered? Does it effect your premium?

As long as the tyres are legal I can't see why you would tell them?

But it's only "modifying" to the same type of tyres that most other cars on the road use as standard, imho the handling is more dangerous on rf with the skittish/tram lining behaviour they exhibit!
