What a car!!

After running a 3.0i for four years and being more than happy with the comfort, performance and style I've just picked up my Z4M roadster today at 5.30pm. All I can say know after the short 35 mile drive home, that was doubled, is wow.

I've never posted on a forum before but I cannot agree more with all the posts here I've read over the last few weeks before picking it up today.

I've always driven my roadsters roof down on good days in the winter and I can't wait to do so in this one. Why did I wait so long?

After yours and the '...Dipping under £20k...' thread I tested a couple at the weekend. Given the fact that you felt the need for the H&S upgrade I wasn't expecting a lot! Even in standard form it's sounds magnificent once you get going... nothing else like it! Equals, but nothing the same.

But yeah, I think you're right, as CJ said - H&S is a monster great to cruise with, living with it is another matter.

Congratulations though, you gave me my first hit of M brand heroin!

John, welcome to the forum! :camera:

I love the H&S .. best thing I bought for the car. I actually dont mind it & it is kind of a daily driver, but because it was slightly noisy, I just did a mega stereo upgrade and now that's noisier than the exhaust

if i hadnt had some wine id take mine out now, it hasnt been driven virtually since the meet. :o

Thanks to you all for the welcome.

I'll try to make time to take some photographs this weekend, that's if I can stop smiling and driving long enough to get the camera out.

My Z4MR has a grey roof....

You cant really see so well when the roof is down! but there are some pics here anyway....

I just realised that Ive never taken a picture of it with the roof up!

Welcome to the forum! Grey hoods are like buses, you wait ages for one then two come along :)

Andy, I have decided that the exhaust on my car which is a cat back, back boxes only straight through system is the best compromise I've heard between usable and loud when the pedal is pushed. When I compare it to H & S I always wish it was louder but when I'm on the motorway I'm glad it's quite unobtrusive.

We should swap for 10 miles and see what we think !

BTW - I've just found out I've got a Press Prep ECU - it's not the same as the ones bought at launch. Is yours an 06?

Yep, it was a BMW UK car but don't know if it was a press car, probably was. What does a press -prep ECU do?

It probably means all the OBD errors are suppressed :P

Sorry for the late reply mate. How are you finding the changeover from the 8?

I used to know someone who worked in the R&D department at MINI and they mapped the MINI's when they went to the press!

He ran the map on my first MINI Cooper when I went on a factory tour. It did seem to be a bit more "urgent" after. Not so economical though. My guess is that's what's classed as a press-prep ECU. Mines an ex-BMW UK car also. Thought it goes well! :P

I used to run a 330 clubsport in a very striking "purple" that was the UK press car. It consistently our performed its stated performance statistics. When I asked my local dealership service department about this I was told they knew nothing about it. However, a local specialist, who had worked at the dealership, told me later that the press cars usually get a number of "tweaks". It did go like stink though.
