wet passenger footwell

Can anyone help with this one? When it rains heavily I get water ingress into the passenger footwell. It is not from the roof, nor the window surround nor windscreen as far as I can tell. Where it seems to be coming in is at the base of the A pillar where the door meets the bonnet edge. There is a rubber seal which is attached to the bodywork here and this extends up the A pillar and around the top of the windscreen. I believe that it is at the lower end of this where it is not sealing - has anyone else experienced this and if so how did you cure the problem? I do not have any leaks on the driver's side. :?

I had a little problem with mine recently, I've just replaced the drivers side door weather strip as my old one had a crease in it and also a rip. pretty sure thats how water was entering mine. Will find out next time it gets rained on or washed.

Thanks for welcome - I will check membrane by testing as described but I can see water tracking down from base of windscreen A pillar so my suspicion is the seal around this area as I have tried pouring water from a watering can into the gap and I can simulate the leak. :thumbsdown:

Welcome dee, sounds like you already located the problem. You're better off than many. If the door parts all seem to align properly with adjacent parts, the fitment is unlikely the problem. That leaves the door seals as the culprit. One or more are either damaged, perished, or simply grown too stiff to properly seal.

You can try a heavy treatment of a commercial rubber treatment. Many here are very happy with gummi pflege (spelling?). Sooner or later though, you'll likely need to replace the offending seal(s). Good luck!
