Right wheres best to start looking for this, never noticed it before and it wasnt heavy rain today

the drivers matt corner was wet (closest to door / seat), non of the carpets seem wet (underneath), roof etc seems dry

where should i be looking?

its a z4 coupe

Internal door membrane would be my guess, had same symptoms and door membrane had come unstuck. There is a how-to fix on here and many have had similar issues.

What he said.
Do an inspection, heat up (hair dryer) and press it to stick. If there isn't any torns in membrane itself of course.

Cheers i`ll check that, if no one else thinks it could be else where

You should be able to spot water ingress right where the hood handle is, where two two plastics join together. On a rainy day or when washing the car you should be able to see water drops. I was surprised how much water can drip into your car this way.

well its first time its done it, and its been in much worse weather,

was just odd how the carpets feel dryish and the matt was very damp.

so what part would you says at fault the inner weather barrier?

Mine's currently with BMW having this issue fixed. I'm hoping they'll sort out the pond problem under my passenger seat!

not tried it in rain yet, door panel came off easy enough.

the door panel its self under the trays you could see water marks. on the inner seal theres a bolt right next to inner membrane this had a 2" gap right at bottom

So bit of silicon and it looks to have held. Will see next time its raining. In all 30 mins to do it all, hardest part was getting the cover plug for screw in door handle.

oh and the door open handle was torx 25, rest where allen keys

Sorry to bring this back up, but I have the same issue but in the passenger side
Footwell. Carpet is fully soaked.
Will this be the door membrane inside the door card?
Or the sill around the door?
Thanks for the help

Mine was also the passenger side. I would guess door-membrane. Easiest way to tell is take off the door card off and get someone to spray water on the window with the door open. You should then be able to see where the water is coming from (if it's the membrane). That would be the first thing to test IMO.

dans6490, Will give it a go at the weekend, thank you :)

If it is the membrane where can you get a replacement?

Are they pricey?

Thanks again

Sorry for the late reply. You can get a replacement from the stealers for about £25 IIRC. You may be able to re-stick yours but won't be able to tell til it's off.
