Hello all,

A colleague of mine is in need of a little help finding a good service place... Does anyone know a good independant BMW specialist in West London, preferably in or around Chiswick?

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

hiya, I live in the area and i used these guys for my inspection 1 service.

Gilbert's BMW's
108, Gunnersbury Avenue,
London,
W5 4HB
Tel: 020 8993 0404

no probs, just a word of warning, it's a small indy and as far as i know there is only one mechanic (who to his credit knew his stuff) when i booked mine in on a saturday he seemed really busy, try a week day he should be able to do a more thorough job.

Weekdays would work better for me anyways - I work just down the road and can sometimes drive in (usually take the trains)

Thanks again :)

How much did the Inspection cost Gerry??
Gannet, a full report if you do get down there as i need somewhere to take mine for an inspection soon. (as my wallet slowly weeps)

Dreamer, I will report if I use them - warning though that my brake stuff isnt due until november and I just had the inspection 1 done at my local dealer earlier this year - dont remember it being too expensive though, guess it depends what needs doing.

cant remember off the top of my head, but IIRC is somewhere around 200 mark (or was it 300  ), have to check that will get back to you on that.

I'll have to check, i think it saids 'Gilbert for BMW's' independant specialist , or something to that effect, I'll double check and let you know! :)

Time to revive :D

I have just had my car at Gilbert's for it's Brake fluid change as I didn't fancy paying the dealer's £97 for it.

Dropped it off this morning and just picked it up, no problems. Even sorted out an MOT for it - even though he doesn't actually do them

I also asked him to try and code the remote roof and the one-touch passenger window - he has done both :D Sorry no idea which system he uses to do this, but my dealer option list didn't include these options...

Overall very happy :D

VERY interesting. Im as good as down there if he can do the roof/key operation code. YEEESSSSS! :D

Cheers Gannet

I didnt even know he had the equipement to do the programming, how much did the brake fluid change cost?

I asked him on the off chance really - he said he'd try. Next thing I knew he had already done it :D Cost £45+VAT for the two things programmed

Brake fluid change was £50,

So I got the Coding done and the fluid change done for what my stealer wanted for the fluid change alone :o

:D

gannet, that is a great resut, we could do with a sticky thread with the locations of the peope who can do this, is there something on goolge maps that woud do, or another way of doing it?

That is a good idea - I Don't have time to look at Google maps right now - and probably wont for a week as I'm on holiday for a week :D

If no-one has figured anything out by the time I get back I'll have a little look :)

I've made a start ( a limited one...) in google maps, still exploring it's features so any suggestions and improvements are welcome!

have fun!

See that looks pretty awesome to me, can even get door to door directions too, something like that with all the good independents and stuff on would be great.
