Were 3.0si tailpipe trims polished when new?

Sorry if this is an old Q, I tried searching but couldn't find an answer. My trims are a dull grey, look almost like aluminum.

Is this normal or should they be chrome like?

Cheers

I think the trims were only standard on the sport model. And were satin.

SE had just the stainless steel pipe.

I do miss the trims... Thought they looked ace, were a bugger to keep clean though!

Just pull the trim piece off they are held on with a springs. And then measure the pipe I think they are around 62mm. Could you not spray the tips you have with high temperature paint? It would be a nice cheap DIY mod you could do this afternoon.

If they have heavy build up on them I have a buffing wheel. I am happy to clean them up for you on that. Just post them to me and cover the return posting costs. Or if you did paint then just rub them with some scotch barite to clean + key them?

Cheers MM. I will explore the possibilities of a direct fit replacement or coating the originals I am trying to remove the silver colour from the rear hence no badges etc at the moment .

They weren't std on the 2.5si sport. Around £20 each from memory.
