...and what a top bloke!

I was back at my folks in Staffs for one reason or another, so thought id take advantage of only being 45 miles away from Autotech to get some z4 option coding done.
Called Peter in the morning and he said I could pop down anytime. I turned up at 5:20 and within 10 mins the autologic box of tricks was plugged in and it was working its magic

-Checked the fault codes first and there was nothing unexpected - good!
-Set the option to have the roof go up from the remote - result!
-Set the "beep/2 beep" option when the car is locked and unlocked - result!
-Set the doors to auto lock when driving away over 16kmh i think - result!
-Car beeps when reverse is engaged - i think that is to say that the PDC is active.

Checked various other options, but that was about all i could do that there was/i wanted. Peter advised not to do the selective unlocking as it can be a pain - so i didnt do that.
Oh we enabled the voice control just to see if i had it fitted - but it didnt do anything.

Brilliant service and highly recommened.
His garage is the sort that fills you with confidence - not immaculate, and not a state either - it "looks" like good, honest work goes on there - so much so that Im most likley to take my car back for its Insp I later this year - yes I will drive from London for that!

One thing that was bizzare was that the SAT NAV didnt work after i drove away. It kept saying "Please wait a moment". tried everything I could, ejected the nav disc etc - nothing.
I nipped back to Autotech but Peter could see anything obvious - just to leave the battery disconnected for a while once I got home and check again. I left it for an hour and all was dandy after that!!!! :)

I was gutted to remember today that I forget to ask for the comfort indicators options to be enabled - i.e touch the indicator up/down and it will flash 3 times....hopefully i'll be able to nip it back up one weekend for that one - if your reading Pete :)

Overall 10/10 !!

Cheers
Jamie

Do you know how to use it, if your car has factory fitted bluetooth it should have it. If you press and hold the shouting man button on the steering wheel you should hear a long beep, after which you say your command.

Peter is a top bloke. I would trust him with my 'M' over any dealer if it wasn't so far and I have a warranty to care for.

I didn't but peter did and tried that after turning it on - but it didn't work
I have factory BT but as far as I know voice control was an extra module

I went there for a service 3 weeks ago and had my key coded and CDV removed.

Only bad point is he works from basically a double garage with no waiting room and the village has one pub within walking distance. Waiting around for 5 hours put me near suicidal.

Happy with everything though!

Voice control was extra as I understand it too. I've got Bluetooth and just tried above, no worky.

I may give him a call tomorrow as i want my windows to auto shut when i lock the car... and get the damn CDV removed.

Can he do that?

Don't they do that stock anyway? Mine do. Just hold lock down for 3 secs.

nope.. doesn't do it on pre-facelift as standard.
think it was part of comfort pack?

Thats strange mine is a facelift with the comfort pack and i held it down for more then 3 seconds and the windows did not shut (my old E46 used to) I can open the roof with the remote - but not close it - maybe he can enable that too!

I don't have the comfort pack...which is PDC / Cup Holders / Cargo Net right?...but I do have windows up on the key. Weird!

All my BMs have had it (330, M3) so I just assumed they all did

My windows come up with the key - hold for 3 secs...

have had the auto up roof coded so maybe its part of that :idunno:

Yeah I think it is.

Mine is Hold unlock for 3 - windows down, hold for 10 roof down
Hold lock for 3 - windows up, hold for 10 roof up

Before it was recoded, if I held lock for 10, the alarm would go off!

Does anyone know which Car/Key memory name you need to adapt to make this work in Autologic/NCS Expert!? I cant for the life of me find the appropriate command in the Z4's adaptation menu...

Maybe you have to 'hack' it so it believes its a different car?
