Did my last drive out in the Z4 on friday evening, and then Saturday morning, a nice chap came down from Macclesfield and drove my car away!

I am now zedless :(

had a good run... bought the car for cheap 2 1/2 years ago, mainly as a trackday toy, and had some great days out in it, and a few sketchy moments... had a high speed spin at Bedford, and did a 180 on the grass at Oulton Park... avoided binning it at a soaking wet cadwell as well. But by far the highlight was driving the 400 odd miles to spa for a trackday, on which the car held its own against a miriad of 911s, fezzas and lambos :D

had quite a few problems... alternator packed in (which scuppered an evening session at donington) and the brake lines corroded all the way through (donington) and a maf problem meant the car went into limp home mode at times (also at donington)

but when the car was working properly, it was a great performer - good handling, great soundtrack (removed a piece of foam from the generator) and reasonably fast. Certainly a step up from the old 328i's i had previously, which never really felt they were designed for circuit work.

This also marks the first time in nearly 7 years i have not had a track car, and am now back down to just one car. Maybe in a few years i'll get the bug again and buy another toy (quite fancy a porsche with a flat 6) but we'll see. Anywhos, time for a trip down memory lane...

Sounds like a lot of fun has been had in the old Z4. :driving:

Love the shot going into Eau Rouge. 8)

The car in front of me dumped oil on the top crest, as I was following through there at 90mph, not my favourite side ways moment in the Zed. Happily I held it together, only for it to happen again, breaking from 140mph at the end of the straight too. I ended up going straight on, but plenty of run off there. At that point I worked out what was going on and eased off.

Ha i think 120 was the best i saw at the end if the straight... screaming along at just under redline in 4th.

As you can see it was raining on and off all day, which made eau rouge scary! Had a few moments coming out the hairpin, but no spins. Nearly took out a lambo that tried to overtake round the outside of les combes/malmedy, but luckily we had some grip in reserve and managed to leave him a cars width on the exit.

Yes it's a great circuit. I had a 350Z keeping me honest on one of my early laps. Just as I was thinking, this guys either pushing too hard or he can really drive, he stuffed it into a tyre wall behind me. I went over almost apologetically in the pits, but it was just bumper damage and he was indeed just pushing too hard.

Some fantastic photos there OP.

I hope you don't miss it too much, but somehow I think it will be some time before there will be any track days. :(
