Don't ask me how but I managed to run over my 2 day old Ctek charger! :headbang: :x :(

I wonder am I the first to do this?

I plugged it in without connecting it to the battery (didn't want to take any chances) and the power, car and AGM LEDS light up but when I press the MODE button nothing happens and none of the 8 numbered status LEDS light up but that could be because it's not connected to the battery.

Can someone with the same charger check if the MODE button changes the setting for bike car etc without it being connected to the battery?

I feel your pain. When you do something like that yourself and you can’t blame anyone else for their stupidity it makes it worse. :headbang:

True true, well at least I didn't run over my dog, many have done that!

If there is nothing connected, the lights will not come up. They only come up when it has checked the state of the battery.

I have mine fixed to the wall so it is not on the floor 8)

Mode does not do anything on mine without battery connection.

Ouch not good :(

Have just plugged mine in the green power light in bottom left corner lights up as does the default battery choice and the mode button works I bought mine around 5 weeks ago

Surely it arrived like that?
I'm sure the 'ahem' damaged packaging would prove it?

 I was just thinking that! wonder what Amazon would say.

But anyway I decided to plug it onto the battery and see what happens. The status lights come on now and the power, car and AGM LEDS light up but the MODE button doesn't work. Maybe this means it works but is stuck on the Mode I last selected but I suppose I shouldn't take a risk in case some other damage is there and that causes some problems later down the line and also maybe the unit isn't safe anymore. I guess I will just have to fork out for another one. :(

Lucky, my 30 year old battery charger burst into flame and melted down to a big black blob of plastic.

So never rest any unit on the car, perhaps place on a old baking tray on the floor.
