Well I saw it today...

...too bad it was under a cover in the showroom and the dealer wouldn't take it off under any circumstances :(

Anyway, from the proportions and as others have suggested, it looks a lot smaller than the pics suggest. I'm not about Thursday so I'll have to wait until Saturday or Sunday to have a look. They have the full brochure now too.

I think no dealers are allowed to show the new Z4 until next Saturday. Did you get the new Z4 brochure (A4 size), Wondermike?

I told you. It isn't big. Comparisons to the 6 series are grossly exaggerated.

Agreed, there was a 6 convertible in the showroom too, and it is in a different league in terms of size, not even close.

It was in the car park of my dealers when I was there on friday, just dirty. Looked a lot nicer inside then the current model.

Well I went to 2 dealers today including sneaking into the staff area and still couldn't get a peek. Ah well, maybe at the weekend.

From reading the reviews it seems the interior quality is much improved. I sat in an E92 M3 a few months back and did so again today, beautifully built interior, especially the DCT gearshift and paddles, just enough movement in them.

Well, you know Mike, they know a shrewd customer when they see one ... :D

my dealer has a review evening on thursday which I should be able to make it too, going to the launch at the weekend too :D

I was telephoned by the dealer to see if I would go to the official launch on Thursday night. Car is there he said, but not allowed to show it until Thursday evening.

Sad thing is I'm away on business that very evening... :headbang: Still they tell me it's not for sale, so a test drive is available at short notice.

I was told viewings only this coming weekend weekend and no test drives until the following weekend, I suppose they want the cars to be there static and not out all the time. 35i came from BMW UK and they ordered themselves a 23i.

It will be interesting to note the BMW strategy, the sales chap reckoned that massive stocks of cars that BMW (and I suppose all manufacturers) had at the start of the crunch are now almost all gone, most as pre-registered used cars, and now they will be much more careful about having expensive metal stockpiled somewhere, so maybe a return to the days of having to wait for a car, and a controlled supply of used cars too. There was a substantial waiting list for the E85 and the SLK in 2004.

That means availiability of seoncd-hand fully loaded new Z4 (mostly ex-demo) will be limited and pricey in near future. Even standard model with popular options (i.e. wheels, leather, sports seats) will have higher residual value. :(

I feel special now that the dealer showed me the car :poke:
Yeah I'm annoyed they never showed me, even after begging and promising not to tell anyone  He did say that a particular garage was in trouble with BMW UK for showing it to someone, but I don't know if that was true or not.

Well there is some logic that the official UK launch is Thursday (well so my dealer tells me) to keep it under wraps. Clearly the idea is to create much greater interest at one moment and stimulate a desire to buy quickly.

I guess BMW have to control dealers tightly, else they just do their own thing with no regard to expensive corporate launch strategy.

Interesting thread - but what I dont understand is that ive seen 1 on the road already on an 09 plate....but then again, that was near where I work which is Bracknell (BMW HQ) - maybe it was one of their cars??

You can see the new Z4 at Vines of Gatwick as it is parked plainly in view in their car park (behind bars though).

But dealers expect people ordering their new Z4 this weekend with 5-year free servicing. Will people order the cars without test drive?

I was at a stop light today and the new Z4 pulled up right next to me with the top down. It was black with a red interior and looked really sweet. I wanted to snap a pic but the light turned green.
