weird smell

hi, I have a 2010 z4 and everytime I get in it after its been sat for a day or so it smells inside of what I can only describe as cannabis. my wife and myself have never dabbled in this so why ?? any ideas ??

Previous owner may have stashed a bag somewhere. I had on in a previous car, just wedged behind the fusebox.

Check under the seats, around the footwell and behind the glovebox.

Air-con musty pongs could be the culprit so an anti-bacterial treatment is worthwhile. Try swapping out the cabin filter (under glove box) and whilst checking for the lost stash under the seats have a poke around for dampness/leaks.

Once it's sorted you can sit back, roll a fat'un and chill

told the mrs she may get a fat"un later she said great , not had a big one for yrs, (bitch),

My sons old Fiesta had this same smell around the O/S/F wheel, I searched behind the splash guard but couldn't find a thing...weird

Could be a build up of bacteria on the evaporator (cooler matrix, bit inside the car) if you run the heating system with the air con disengaged.

Helpful diagram here:-

Had same problem last year especially when using A/C-Heater, it was caused by the cabin air filter. Changed out filter and odor vanished. Apparently dealer never changed filter when brought in for service.

No problemo!
After comin backwards and forwards to holland over the last 15 years that would present no significant problem!
