Weird roof issue

A week ago when it was very cold but sunny I decided to put the roof down for the short run home
Windows went down, but as the rear screen lifted above the roof I got a 'red window' warning on the dash
I put the roof back up and made my way home

I'd put a new battery in a few days earlier so went through the window reset procedure gain

Tried it again and the same happened.
I kept the button pressed and the roof operation completed
Putting the roof back up again more alarms and I noticed the boot lid closure was very jerky

Long story short; kept trying it and noticed the alarms were getting less and then only coming on when putting the roof up
Operation was noticeably smoother as well

Anyway after about 6 cycles the roof operated normally without any alarms
I've tried it every day since with thankfully no problems

Has anyone else experienced this?
Not sure if it's a sensor having a hissy fit, the cold weather (coupled with the fact the roof hasn't been down for a while - yes I know, sorry :))
OR a day earlier I'd hit a monster pot hole. I was only traveling at about 10-15 mph as I slowed for traffic lights. Filled with water and in the dark just thought it was a puddle :(
I was wondering if the jolt could have moved a sensor or the alignment, but baffled how it would correct itself

Your thoughts would be appreciated (getting the tracking checked this week)

When this happened to my car it was a lose plug and socket on the right boot lift cylinder.

Thanks flybobbie  . Still all OK at the moment, but I'll check that out anyway
Not sure how I didn't find that thread as I did a search
