Weird Noise

Ok so bear with me, only had the car 4 weeks but I have a VERY faint noise that's bugging me. When I point it out to others they look at me as though I have an OCD issue.
Driving the car it sounds like something intermittently brushing the heater fan. But its not that . . . . as increasing the fan speed and switching the fan off completely the noise remains intermittent, but its not constant, it seems to start and stop depending on engine RPM.
I'm thinking its something loose behind the dash, vibrating with certain rpm - or similar loose item vibrating at certain rpm outside the car such as one of those flimsy silver heat shield things. Wish I was one of those noise finding gurus. Wish I had time to spend investigating but its been raining for what feels like 40 days and 40 nights - I need silence to find this noise inside \ outside the car .

Ring any bells with anyone ? also my A pillar trims have a tendency to rattle and need thumped home everytime I get in.
 
Suggest a voice / video recording and your variant (E85/6, E89 or G29) may encourage some comments
 
My 23i sometimes i hear what sounds like a cricket inside the heater fan, again it doesn't vary with speed, but only heard at low setting.

Hello, did you get this sorted? I have the same issue...intermittent whirring noise. As you say noise remains even with fan set to off and noise not matches rpm.
 
Complete shot in the dark on this one and only suggesting as I have read it elsewhere, but isn’t this issue to do with the fuel line resonating on the bulkhead?

Like I say, may be completely wrong, just commenting on what I have read previously
