I had this on my last car. Mechanic said it's caused when you brake hard to a stop (ie lots of heat generated) then sit with your foot on the foot brake rather than releasing the callipers and putting the hand brake on.
The braking is fine and feels like your throwing out an anchor.
it's the front left.
I only noticed when I came out of a shop and thought it was a crack but there is nothing to feel. No ridge or anything. I recon there is another year in the pads and the discs are probably about half done so was thinking I would replace the lot with an mtec kit when the light comes on.
I tend not to sit on the brakes although I am a bit of the late brakers so it's possible it's just a heat mark.
Now it's mentioned it does look a bit like the pad has missed the top bit of the disc, the angle is a bit funny tho so I could get in with the phone camera
compared to the shitty pug 106 her indoors has its more like driving into an immovable object.
ill do the lot at some point but as i finish my job on wed next week and they are not warped and working fine (ive got an mot due in may so i can get them tested at that) they can wait till i get a new contract, they have a few months more in them and i guess as ill be joining the ranks of the great unwashed i wont be using the car anyway
