Afternoon all!
So.. weird issue when I started my car this morning - after being parked up for more than 42 hours.
I get in this morning and start her up to which felt like it started too quickly (Almost stumbled, coughed and spluttered into life)
I start driving and notice something is not right as I nearly stalled the thing (Which is rare for me!)
Upon putting my foot down to accelerate, the engine sounded as if it took a big gulp of air before it wanted to carry on.. not like the instant response I would normally expect.
I also noticed it felt really slow, like I had 50BHP instead of 265BHP!
I thought it may be the cold weather this morning (It has never done it before but hey must be a one off).. until it was still doing the same after 30 mins of driving, when in neutral the RPM's were hunting slightly - I could also slam my foot to the floor when in neutral (like a blip of full throttle) and it would only rev to around 1500RPM, also sounding like it is taking a gulp of air before doing so.
Anyway by the end of my journey ~ around 35 miles, I thought it must be an air leak with how it sounds plus no EML being on.
So parked up, engine off, I pop the bonnet open to take a look, no sign of any air leaks from what I can see without any specialist tools etc..
Now here's the weird bit; I started the car up again to find that all is ok, revs freely like it did on Sunday (When I last drove it) and also pulls like it used to..
Has anyone had any similar issues at all?
Also note, I have noticed a slight rattle on warm starts (After it has been driven) .. I hope it is not the dreaded VANOS rattle
Cheers,
Dan.
