Weight

Had the geo done on my car today, no corner weighting as no coilovers at present, however I asked them to weigh it out of curiosity.
With 3/4 tank of fuel car came in at 1412kg.
Weight affecting mods on my car include bbk (fronts neglible, rear significantly lighter), carbon airbox(>4kg?),carbon driver bucket(>15kg?). 19" CS rims (?kg)
+ it has no nav, does have the sub speakers beind the seats and an extra amp on the bulkhead (is that standard?)
On the same scales with my considerably lightened e46 m3 (little interior, intrax, carbon roof, boot, same bbk etc.) came to 1490kg with a 1/2 tank.
Wiki quote 1470kg laden (=3/4 tank I think). This result would suggest that's incorrect.
Wondered if anyone else had geeked out like this?!

An extensive list of mods on this site.
Includes cost and weights of the mod.
Unfortunately only applies to E86 Coupes

Bumpy

TomK, my ///MC weighs 1450kg with fuel and no driver. I have made extensive modifications to the car but none specifically aimed at weight saving. It is likely that my weight-saving is due to Remus backboxes, CSLs and perhaps KW Clubsports.
Is yours a Coupe or Roadster?

Just out of interest, do you still have your E46 M3?

Thats why the Z4Ms feel so good. 1400kg is not light, but also not 1550kg that most 46 Ms weigh in at! Exhaust, brakes and some other mods would get near 1350, and would love to see more acheived without stripping it. No point power hunting with the S54, just get it on a diet.

Stripping a car of weight whilst maintaining it's usability as a comfortable road car can be very expensive...

I hear the seats are heavy, but probably costs a lot to replace with something significantly lighter that are comfortable!

Love the look of the Porka GT3 seats, but never say in them and not sure on weight!

Yes the seats are heavy, I'll weigh the one I just took out tomorrow (electric/heated). Replaced with a carbon bucket that weighs 6kg (but then a bunch of steel at the bottom to hold it all together)

Won't fit.

If the seats are less than 30kg I'll be surprised. That and measurement errors / insensitivity might explain the difference between yours and mine.

I put the sports seats in my old 3ltr Z4, and they are heavy as expected. But then with four motors, and all the associated mechanicals, then it wont be like a fixed Recaro SPG etc.

26.5kg. Surprised me too. Weighed my e46m3 armchair also, that was 30.5kg.

When i had the BMW performance seats, i was surprised at how heavy they were! They were around 22kg per seat! Though anything that reclines will be heavy i suppose.
