Wee trip to Braemar

Wife was in Aberdeen at the Brewdog AGM so it gave me the opportunity for an early start on a half day out.
Kind of made it up as I went along but took main road to Pitlochry(a necessary evil) then onto the good stuff....over the hill to Kirkmichael and on up to Braemar for late breakfast.Hardly any traffic,no suicidal wildlife and weather not too bad.....dry but cold.......not many potholes either

Still a bit of snow at the ski centre but no chair lifts running....maybe in the afternoon. Was only 4°C there when I passed back through around 12 but managed the whole trip without needing the seat heater

Pitlochry to Braemar over the Cairngorms was a highlight of my Scotland roadtrip last year .

The ski station at Glenshee even in May seemed like a different world

Loved the road that followed the river past Balmoral to Braemar :driving: & our coffee & cake stop

Just crappy phone pictures from me I'm afraid and not even that many....but twas a good day out all the same.
Weather's been OK for the time of year up here so I reckon the lowish air temp( readings taken from car!!) are only because the air is blowing over the hills which are still snow capped...cairngorms after all.
I was trying to work out where your pics were taken Mr Wilks but I'm a bit rusty with the area now.....used to go up there a fair bit on my bike to meet up with friends and right thru' the hills to Granton on spey,Dava moor and Culloden.
I think the road from Bridge of Cally thru' to Braemar is a favourite with Jethro Bovington but it's busy up there in the summer with tourists, bikers and general day trippers......best to go mid week in the summer and early morning or late evening.
