Weather Strip...old kind of but......

Wondering about that weather strip above the driver/passenger doors.....

With the age of our cars, bar just replacing the things....which I don't want to do yet as I have far to many larger items of need to be replaced/ repaired......

Kind of tired of having to deal with them. I have tried using a pencil eraser (for the fine grit to rub off the white oxidation that forms and apply some Armour All. Lasts for about two weeks. Petroleum Gel (KY) fared no better. Clean reapply, just keeps me way to busy it seems but does look good when I'm done and makes me feel better, Sort of, as I know in a couple weeks I'm going to be doing it again, cause a clean Zeds to be admired.. and all that.

So the question is.....

Has anyone ever tried sealing them up with a tire gel? Would it be too harsh for that minimal strip sealing the top of that window?
Since it seems to do a dandy job on the tires, would it be bad? or detrimental? Ever tried?Or is it something I'm going to have to squint at and hate until I cant take it any more and just replace them?

Opinions please.

If you need a pic of the strip I'll be more than happy to up one.

Gtechniq C4 trim restorer. (link here). Worked wonders on my plastic trims around the door, the scuttle and slam panels. Great stuff, trim looked like new afterwards and it lasts. My trim still looks good, and I treated it nearly 3 years ago.
