Not just me then. One address for receiving crap and one for real life

They do buy any car , anything decent gets retailed , the rest go to auction , its just a cash rich company to help people out of financed cars , great business model to be honest , it's not a charity organisation :)

Not "We Buy Any Car.Com" but a similar set up gave me a fair price for my old car. After returning from a Europe trip in it, the powered hard top started making horrible gear grinding noises - not an uncommon fault but one that costs a fortune to fix - def not a DIY job. That plus the suspension being crap and needing sorted with coilovers saw me looking at over £2000 to get it right, money I wasn't prepared to spend on a fast depreciating car

Not being able to sell it privately as it was, I hawked it around a few dealers looking for the Z4 replacement and was offered from £9k to 10K for it. I got home one night and just for devilment popped the details into the buy car website and it came back with £10568 so rather than fanny about with part ex I took it along a few days later where they gave me exactly that for it. I was ok with that because it gave me the cash in hand and no part ex to bargain with and allowed me to go look at private sales too.

I have to say that I've not had values too far away from realistic before now - when we were looking to chop in our 2006 118i & wanted a value from Audi, the sales guy said bring in a WBAC valuation and that's what they'll pay. Any other cash comes off the top line & forget about the PX value...

Given that We Buy Any Car is owned by BCA (British Car Auctions), it's a win/win situation for them.

i guess for them to be able to say we buy any car they just offer so low that if anyone is desperate enough to accept their offer they know they cant fail to turn a profit. makes you smart a bit though to be offered half your cars value. my 2008 m coupe is worth between fifteen and a half and seventeen depending on how quick i want to sell . there have been cat D's on here for more money then they offered. only have the one email address too so probably will get email hail :headbang:

tarmacking a little old lady's drive for ten times the going rate is a great business model too , but it doesnt make it ethical. they could pay a more realistic price still leaving themselves 1500 quid profit and they would get more happy customers who would use them again. i know they just rely on desperate people in a bit of a hole. i have run my business for nearly 30 years and have always charged reasonable money but given exemplary service , that is a business model for someone of conscience and for happy customers who return time and time again and promote my business wherever they can, maybe not such a good model for getting very rich tho  ... I can still afford to tax the M tho,.... for now
