Hi all been lurking but still around as been buggy building. I keep getting increased offers on the m from we buy any car , when I first put my details in for a laugh 3 years ago, it came back at 8800 quid :o , then about a year ago 12000 , then 14800' now 15 k and latest 15695, it's a carbon black 08 plate mc with black leather and carbon dash with just under 57 k on it. , another 12 or 15oo quid and I would be tempted! Anyone else tried it, personally I think that is sensible money they are offering and higher than a couple of local specialist dealers offered.

If they are offering £15695 you'd be able to sell privately for at least £17k in my experience. They offer trade prices, you should get at least 10% more.

Hi, unless your car is perfect in every way these guys won't pay this price when you take it to them-chip on the bumper? "Needs a respray sir" wheel paint starting to blister? "Need a refurbish sir"
Not many cars are completely perfect :(

Precisely, they are overly obsessed with cosmetic condition, no fair and wear and tear with them, whether its a 10 month old car with next to no mileage or 15 year old car that's been to the moon and back. Any little chip, scratch mark of any description and its hundreds off, never mind their "admin fee" on top of that.

However they do have their uses as the low skilled staff they employ don't have a clue!
A friend of mine's car developed an engine knock, it was subtle but definitely noticeable and got more pronounced the longer the car was left ticking over. He didn't want to p/x at a dealer as he was convinced "an expert" would notice. I did try to explain to him that a lot of independent dealers and particularly main dealer sales personnel aren't that clued up or even bothered on p/x vehicles as they move them on to auction anyway. In the end he took it to WBAC and apparently they knocked £400 or so off for very minor chips/marks etc despite the car being 8 years old and over 70k. (For its age/mileage the car was pretty excellent and wouldn't have needed anything cosmetically to retail.)
The Muppets at WBAC didn't notice the engine knock, despite the fact they had the car running for nearly 20 minutes while they were conducting their inspection. In the end he walked away with equivalent of Cap Average money which I suppose wasn't too bad however I bet he could have pushed a dealer for a bit more (if they didn't notice the knock) and probably got CAP Clean for it as it really was that good a car.

The really worrying bit was what happened next.
As a lot of people know, WBAC is owned by British Car Auctions these days and WBAC vehicles makes up something like half of their business. They sell them through their auctions, branded as UK Car Group sales etc. I looked out for my friends car coming through and spotted it at Peterborough, despite it being sold to WBAC in Manchester and BCA having a huge location there. It came with a so called "AA Mechanical Inspection" that they charge the public another £50+ for on top of their other fees (trade get it much cheaper) This gave the engine the thumbs up! If that wasn't bad enough the car sold and with 24 hours was up for sale on trader at a dealership in Peterborough!

Buyer Beware!!!

I sold my Focus ST to them, cos I was buying a cheaper car anyway and hence no p/x, you fill in an online form describing any defects (mine had 3 scraped wheels and lacquer substantially peeling off the bumper),for this I took a £500 hit. The clutch was also shot but then they never saw this.

I sold my MR a couple of months ago privately for £12750 after weeks of deathly silence at a higher price point, asides from minor road rash on the front it was absolutely immaculate, not a single mechanical issue, no scratches or marks on any alloy, 67k miles, FSH, WBAC just quoted me 9k.

Perhaps they're also jumping on the Coupe bandwagon.
